Recording wrong audio stream

So I have a weird thing going on with v 3.2.33

Last evening I had 5 recordings that have the descriptive audio track (someone speaking describing what is going on) as the primary audio track.

I have the same recordings done with HDHRDVR and those are fine.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

This would have occured starting @755pm last evening. I am attaching logs - not sure if they will be of any help. 192.168.1.112 is the server, 192.168.1.50 is an Nvidia Shield

Thanks for reading and any help!

It's whatever ffmpeg determined to be there default audio stream. If this is happening frequently then I would suggest not using the real-time conversion feature.

I have never used the real time conversion feature.

This is not something that has occurred before. Has there been recent change(s) to ffmpeg?

Ok if this is playback of a recording then try changing the audio track during playback.

I have done this. The primary - or what I would call the primary track -- the one with actual dialog being spoken is in the recording.

Don't get me wrong here Luke - the programs are recording fine -- something has changed. That is my point. It is going to be a huge pain to have to change audio tracks for these recordings.

Just trying to point out that something has changed and what can be done to fix the issue. Can't believe I am the only one to have this issue and if it was common to all recordings I guess that would be more helpful for troubleshooting but it seems random.

Any other thoughts?

I have a bunch more to be recorded tonight. I will report back with further details.

Do you have any ffmpeg logs?

I don't see any logs. Not sure where they would be but not in the \logs folder or \ffmpeg folder. Is there a method to turn them on?

ffmpeg logs will only appear if the media is transcoded so these files must be direct playing.

Can you do a screenshot of the media info screen as displayed in the web app.

If you can post a link to sample media that might help as well.

That is what I was thinking also regarding the logs.

I also think I may not be making the issue clear - The Emby recorded files I edit out commercials and then convert to mp4 -- then I add these files to Emby --- with these 5 files with the descriptive audio recorded as the primary audio track I had two choices - to redo the editing and select a different track -- or use copies of the same programs recorded in HDHR DVR which is what I ultimately did.

What I will do after tonight's recordings finish is add them directly to Emby and provide screenshots as you requested. Hopefully this was a one off problem and I won't see it again.

I do appreciate your help and that of @Luke as well.

This is similar to what I was seeing and was never resolved with uk dvbs dual audio. In this case the audio described track was labelled track 0 and was always prioritised by Emby or the player (not sure if we ever even got to the bottom of that, I got bored with no action)

Did you ever consult how to report a media playback issue, and if so, where can i find that? thanks.

Okay last nights recordings seemed to work fine....except for that little power outage....

Not sure what the issue is/was I did not make changes prior to or after. Anyways we can mark this down as a gremlin and hope it stays far away.

Edit-->> So upon further investigation of why this problem has suddenly appeared - It seems that at some point very recently my CATV provider

made a switch. These secondary audio streams were changed from some form of mpeg2 - not sure which they were using to mp4 AAC low complexity.

Not a problem except that in my editing suite (TMpegEnc Smart renderer) there are settings (unknown to me) that change the priority of the audio tracks

and sure enough mp4 AAC what at the top of the priority list. So that was the "cause" for this problem.

As for why it isn't occurring with all channels - they simply have not changed all of the channels at this point.

So if you see this issue crop up, or have had it in the past, it is possible that your software package may have these same or similar settings for the audio

tracks.

@@Spaceboy please point me to one. Thanks.

@@ebr do you feel that we need to further cover playback of subtitled and dual audio channel streams from an external service? or did we do that one to death already? i think even @punktchen has enough issues that he still doesnt use emby for live tv.

personally i'm happy to continue to explore if you are

On occasion when playing live TV, I do get an alternate audio track. I'll try to remember to grab the server log, next time. I always assumed it was the broadcast, but maybe not?

So i'm getting this more often, now, with Live TV. It's playing the audio track for the visually impaired (the descriptive voice over)
