alucryd 213
So, I have a QNAP TS-453A, which has a Celeron N3160 CPU. For the transcoding, should I be selecting Intel QuickSync, or VA API? I hope never to need it anyway, but if it is, I'd like the best performance, and I don't know enough about this area to know already. Thanks! We don't ship ffmpeg with Quick Sync support, only VAAPI, that's what you'll want to use.

alucryd 213
@ You'll need to stop and restart emby via SSH (as admin) to get the additional logging. You can't stop emby via the web interface as it also disables the service, then you can't start it via SSH. /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/emby-server.sh stop # Wait a bit, then: /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/emby-server.sh start This will be quite verbose, you may want to redirect stderr to a log file instead. /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/emby-server.sh start 2> log

OddbOd 21
This will be quite verbose, you may want to redirect stderr to a log file instead. /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/emby-server.sh start 2> log I strongly advise against doing this as it has the potential to cause serious system instability. Using QNAP's default SSH server your HOME variable gets set to /root, which is not on the data volume but a ram disk which has very little free space (currently only 26MiB on my system), filling it up causes problems like this. Is there any good reason the init script can't be altered to log to somewhere safer? What i meant was, AFTER installing the optional Nvidia card, would the NVENC in emby work for transcoding? cause emby has this option, but i did not see any examples of anyone having tested this yet, thats why i'm asking if anyone knows for sure :] The answer, for the moment, is no with a chance of yes. What concerns me is this segment of the presentation that QNAP gave. It appears that you have to pre-allocate the GPU to QTS-based apps (NVENC definitely can't be used this way now as Emby doesn't currently include any support) or Virtualization Station (there's a possibility that GPU pass-through might actually work) but you can't do both at once. It would be very interesting to find out whether a Virtualized Emby server exposes the GPU in a usable manner. We shall see. 3.50.3 is crashing with HTTPSThe supplied log shows no evidence of a crash but does show that you don't have HTTPS enabled (line 13 "EnableHttps":false). @@Syvedris Are you seeing crashes at regular intervals or is it totally random? alucryd 213
Modifying the starter script hadn't been considered yet because this was meant as a temporary test build, rather than a more permanent solution. But sure, if SSHing is out of the question for most testers, the additional logging will be put along with the other logs. FTR, I'm only hitting 20 megs of log after half a day of scans, subs downloading and the like and I have a huge library, running this for a few minutes should do no harm. AvengersFan 10
@OddbOd I think there was an issue with a the release of Version 3.2.50.3 beta, but that was rectified a few hours later so I am all good on that emby logo prob I had earlier. And those links you provided are all good now and show the logo. However I am still having intermittent crashes and my web page becomes unresponsive, but a quick refresh and all seems to be good again. alucryd 213
DXVA stands for DirectX Video Acceleration, so no it's not using DXVA, it's using VAAPI like the name says. The frame and segments line are nothing to worry about, but that "Unrepairable overflow" definitely is. Do you notice high memory usage while playing that file? Does it happen with any other file?
