i have the orginal hdhomerun dual. 

i have installed the hdhomerun software updated the firmware to latest. scaned my OTA channels and saved it

I can use the hdhr software to start the streams into VLC media player without any issue

 

i get emby to see the device and add it and I add the xml tv and the mapping looks good

 

when i try to watch live tv using the web interface (chrome) it just spins

i have installed the android app and since i am still testing this application I havent paid for it yet. i try the 1 minute stream and it just spins 

i installed the emby theater on my windows 10 vm again i am doing the 1 minute stream to test and when i try the channels it just spins

in the kodi addon i see the list of channels (experimental) and when i try to play them it does nothing. 

 

i have tried to disable subtitles based on something i have seen on here. I am trying playing with the transcoding settings  as well.

I don't see any live tv playback in this log file. Are you sure this is the one from the time period that you tried to play? thanks.

this is a debug log from the server (10.0.93.2 or 10.0.93.3 dual nic) 

 

i was using emby theater with the 1 minute free stream to test. 

 

playing from device with ip 10.0.93.5

 

hdhomerun is 10.0.93.251

 

 

the emby theater app just shows a spinning circle.

Right now I'm not sure. It looks like some part of the process of opening the stream is getting stuck for whatever reason.

is it maybe a new firmware for the hdhomerun?

This is the firmware I am using. It is not a firmware issue. It is possible to rollback the firmware on the NON Prime HDHR tuners though.

I am having the same issue.  Everything worked great for a while but now does not.  Also most of my content is now transcoding where before it did not.  I am not sure if this is related.

i am not sure if that previous comment was meant for me. But to report media playback issues in the link you posted suggested I post in this community describing the problem etc...

 

I noticed today in the dashboard that there is no update when I click on a live tv play button compared to when I attempt to play a music library item.

 

Is there anythign I can do to test my hdhr-us (Dual) device?

 

Like I have said I can use the hdhomerun device setup and it scans the channels just fine and I can use the link in the hdhr software to open the stream in VLC without issue. Is there like a version of the hdhr-us that is not compatible?

Am I wasting my time getting this to work?

i did not do the emby install but downloaded it as a portable install. I keep all my important applications on my F: drive. 

 

its just where the emby install is located and running from. 

 

if its helpful i can move it. 

 

i have also installed emby server on my linux vm and on a test windows 10 vm to see if it made a difference and it has not. 

It just seems like it does not like my hdhomerun device.

ok this afternoon i launched my hdhomerun setup and updated the firmware to

20170930

I switched my antenna to tuner 0 instead of 1 and rebooted it. 

 

i then tried the hdhomerun app that can be installed from the windows 10 store and I was able to view and play my channels. 

i tried again from my emby server with no luck

 

so i used a win 10 vm that I installed emby into and when i tried it again i was able to get live tv to work. when using it in my web browser the dashboard shows its transcoding. Is there anyway to stop this?

 

i was also able to direct play from the emby app installed in kodi. Is there any way to see the channel and schedule info in kodi using emby?

You mentioned you are using Server 2016?  Did you check to make sure Windows firewall is not blocking communication to the HDHR?  I have server 2008 R2 and it was (had the same spinny issue and logs looked the same).  I used Wireshark and noticed a ton of dropped packets for UDP 5004.  I would suggest temporarily disabling the Windows Firewall service and try again to see if its your issue.

i honestly have no idea what the heck is going on LOL

 

i went back to my original emby server (win 2016) and did nothing but start it up. 

its now working. 

 

i seem to be connected to the PRIVATE profile for network and the firewall was disabled for it. just for kicks i disabled the firewall for the domain profile. 

it was working.

i enabled the firewall for the domain profile 

its still working. 

 

it very well could be a firewall issue. however i dont know what fixed it. 

 

its like a clog was removed. 

maybe it will break again.
