Cool to see if it actually gets fixed! I finally resorted to just buying an Nvidia Shield instead, solved all my problems. :)

@ebr I noticed .86 includes a workaround... Is this pushed to play store or do we need to manually install + test?

It was pushed to Google days ago but, for some reason, they have not distributed it.

Just log into Google Playstore and search for Emby and update it.

I have logged into the store and the old version is still there? This is weird. I really would like to update it so I can watch 4K properly. 

Is anyone else having the same issue?

I've just done a google search for emby on android TV (from my PC) and it still says "Current Version1.7.78g"
