Ah now I have it. Directly installed on the Sony still grey bars with internal player here.

Have to try it on the shield when it's available.

Cheers, I haven't had a chance to test it yet as I'm out all day. Will give it a go tonight on my Sony X9000f via Android client app.

Is the updated version available on Google Play Store? No option to update Emby for Android. Otherwise is there some other link to download the latest version for Android?

Hi. It is only available in beta as this is the beta testing area but I think it has already been confirmed that it doesn't fix the issue.

Thanks.

What is the smallest TV known to have this problem?

It fixed the recent item with the OSD but I don't have a sony to test the grey bar issue.

However, this release has caused a new problem (or was in the last and I didn't see it).

Do a search, then when you get the results back scroll down and the screen starts to jump/flicker up and down.  You can enter a movie/show from the result and this will be fine but as soon as you return to the search results it's jumpy again.

Okay, thanks.  I need to hear from a Sony TV owner who has this problem and can test 1.7.02.  If it doesn't fix the gray bar issue, then I'm going to back out all the hacks I've been trying because they obviously have some nasty side-effects.

So am just wondering, I have a 4K HDR Sony TV but no 4K HDR stuff to test on it. Are there other sources I could test with, like YouTube / Amazon or is their stuff OK. Also are you talking about Emby loaded into the TV itself or is it a problem with Shield / Fire TV etc as well ?

There is no issue on the Shield.

for me there is. hdr wouldn't recognised, shield connected to Sony android TV, precisely hdr with 1080p content works without grey bars on the shield, with 4k hdr it doesn't seem to switch to hdr mode, well maybe the combination with the Sony android TV is the problem there.

emby directly on Sony still grey bars with 1. 7.02 and the issues somebody mentioned here with the flickering ui.

well doesn't bother me much I'll use emby in kodi mainly čśŐ and on phone or tablet there is no 4k hdr issue čśë

That is not the same issue we are talking about here (specifically gray bars on Sony TVs).

My bet is your content was cropped.

Yep just tested with version 1.7.02 and Emby Android client installed on Sony X9000f. Still getting the grey bars unfortunately in HDR videos.

it's the same content. and yeah as I said my shield problems may be of the combination shield/bravia. but your right that's not the topic here čśë

still kodi, Archos player on the bravia installed can handle it. maybe mx Pro too. didn't try it lately.

Correct.  This is only  problem on the internal OS of those particular TVs.
