can you winspc into your root and send me a screen shot of the /root/ directory?

Yup I renamed the tar.xz to just make it easier to type the commands

Ok, I think i see your problem

When you ssh in as root, before you install the emby, type cd /. Then run the command to extract and then start the service.

cd /

tar -xf ~/emby-server-terramaster_4.2.1.0_x86_64.tar.xz

service emby-server start

Well this time it took longer to install but still getting the unable to connect message

OK, so its starting up the service.

Can you control f5 on your browser to clear the cache or wahtever that does? gives you a fresh refresh on the page you're trying to load.

Maybe go back to page one of this forum and run the uninstall commands, and then start from scratch? also, I had originally extracted on the /root/ directory too, and I deleted those files out of there with winspc.

Maybe once you uninstall, and restart, then try a reinstall. maybe some leftovers in there causing some issues.

that should be fine, thats the last command, just to delete a user group. if its not there, shouldn't be an issue. (shouldn't be)

well hmm  I might have been running the start command wrong with a underscore instead of the dash becuase now I am getting a new error when I tried that.

adduser: unknown group emby

chown: unknown user/group emby:emby

start-stop-daemon: group 'emby' not found

am i supposed to be putting the file in root folder or / <root>

chown: unknown user/group emby:emby

start-stop-daemon: group 'emby' not found

But you got no errors when you installed it?

nope I just tried to manually add the emby group and rerun and now I get this

adduser: no uids left

chown: unknown user/group emby:emby

start-stop-daemon: user 'emby' not found

Thats very weird. I did not have to add any user groups.

Ok, how about we do this.

Uninstall through the command line, then restart.

Install the app from the app store. And see if it works. If so, Uninstall, and then restart.

Run the install again from the command line.

Start service.

Lets see if that works out any of the bugs.
