Are there any YouTube plugins?

Hi, guys.

I've began migrating my library to Emby and have been impressed so far with what Emby has to offer but one thing is missing that I can't find which could be a deal breaker for the wife... YouTube.

We have plex and she loves using PlexIt to email vids to our TV and is something that has huge WSOA.

Is there a YT plugin to access videos or any other easy method for the missus to use?

Cheers!

I agree. Honestly I think the best method would be to allow remote shortcuts, like Kodi on Android which will allow you to launch any Android app straight from it's UI. If I could launch Youtube from Emby that would be enough for me.

Is there a home button on the remote? I would think you could press the home button and then get to the YouTube app with the same number of clicks, no?

Yes there's a home button and of course I could do that, but integrating it into a single UI (i.e. Emby's) would be preferred. I'd like to eventually set my fire tv's to boot straight into Emby.

The reason I would like this is simple, I have a google profile attached to my android tv already and I don't want to log onto my personal account on the box. I can't not find a way to add the account just to YouTube app alone. I also prefer the Emby's interface over Youtube's,

By having a youtube plug in it would allow user to add their own YT account to their own emby account

sorry for the revival of a post that may be dead

It's a great idea, but unlikely to come from the core team as there are already youtube apps on every platform.  This would be a great plugin from a community contributor.

I figured I should share my findings here as I was searching through the forums earlier trying like hell to figure out a way to make this happen. I did a ton of experimenting all kinds of different ways and finally came up with the winning combination.

Podcast Plugin
YouTube channel URL
PodSync

Copy the URL from the YouTube channel you want to add to your server to PodSync  hit the arrow on the right and it generates a new link. Copy that new link into the podcast plugin and boom. The channel will show up under the podcast app in your library and most importantly the video will actually play. I hope this helps you guys out. I know it was a pain to figure out and figured if I can save any of you guys the headache it would be worth it. Enjoy!

I agree, this is the one major shortfall Emby has.. the competitors excel in this space.. content plugins/channels

Despite services like youtube having their own core plugins, people do enjoy having one source.. the others have the edge there, plex, playon.. etc.. and that's a shame since Emby has the superior interface.

I'm amazed it lacks in this key area.. That is kind of why I keep playon around, I like that I can even record from the channels ( hbo.. prime.. ) it watermarks your recordings for security.. but it's a feature I love, especially because my area is prone to internet outages ..

Hopefully Emby adds these lacking options at some point.

I'm not slamming Emby, I love it and I'm a premier user.. I use it more than most things .. but it would be nice to have all of my content in one familiar interface =)

Which is good because I love that feature even though it's not necessary since I already know my content.. still nice to have.. but not what I was referring to ..

We do support Youtube trailers via MovieDb metadata.

Thank you very much for this hint. But in the Android TV app the Podcasts from this site for example https://www.srf.ch/podcasts

have a very low resolution. Instead on the webbrowser the resolution is ok.

The same for the youtube videos which are integrated over Podsync in the Podcast Plugin of emby. Is there any setting possible?

What settings are you looking for?

Some setting to set the resolution of the video. In the Android TV app the video is looking like a mosaic of many rectangles.

Even the youtoube videos which are transformed with PodSync  and played over the podcast app lose their high resolution.

It's a pitty because this podcast plugin it's a great idea and solution.

Have you tried the quality setting in the android tv app?

The resolution for Live TV and the movies in the library is fine.

Just the videos over the podcasts have a low resolution.

I attach a screenshot, so that you see what I mean.

Ok, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !

I wantet to report the issues but suddenly with the server test version 4.2.0.8 the podcast setion is completely empty

Does the podcast plugin not work anymore?

Works just fine here in my testing.

now it's working again :-)

But on the Android TV App I have still a low resolution.

Over the webbrowser everything is fine.

I've still resolution problems with the podcasts on the android TV-Box. On the Webbrowser and on the mobile apps everything is fine.

Do you know why? I'm using Version 4.2.0.16 beta
