Hello all,

I appreciate all the work being done to make the LG app better!

One item that's missing in the LG app that's present on the Web app is the Director credit.  Aside from a text line near the title, it would also be nice if the Director appeared in the Cast & Crew section too.  Could this be added in a future update?

Thanks!

I guess but it seems redundant. You can always click on the director credit to see what they look like.

True!  But right now, I can't click on either...  ;)

Ok I believe that's because we ran into a focusing problem with those text buttons, but ultimately that's something we'll resolve so that you can click them.

I probably should have been more clear in my post.  There's a Director credit in the Web app that you can click on, but with the LG app, there is no Director listed at all.  It's not that it's not clickable in the LG app, it's missing entirely.

Thanks.

Hello all,

Minor request/bug report.  I noticed that when I view my Movies Collections, the individual movies don't display the year under the title as they do in the main movies section (where I have that option enabled).  By comparison, the movie year displays fine when I view Collections via the Web app.

Thanks!

Sure, here's a screen shot of the Web app:

You can see the year listed underneath each movie title in the collection.  Here's a shot of the same screen using the LG app (sorry for the smartphone pic):

While on the topic of collections, I'm sure there used to be an indicator about how many unplayed episodes are in each category as well, just like TV series. It was very handy. It has also gone from the web app. Was it intentional?

Yes, it was a constant source of confusion over what the count meant, e.g. unplayed vs number of items in the list, etc.

Fair enough I guess, although an option would have been nice with a default to off rather than removed since the code was already there

Hi all @@SamES,

I have a 2160p MKV file encoded with HLG HDR.  When I play it with Emby for LG, it plays direct, but doesn't trigger HDR.  However, when I play that same file via Emby Beta for Roku Ultra, the HLG HDR badge pops up on my LG OLED TV.

Here's the MediaInfo:

I'm happy to upload a sample.  What length do you need and how should I send it?

Thanks!

I have no idea what could be wrong, but I'm available to try and play it back with the Emby client on my LG OLED 55B8.

Just use whatever file upload site to upload one minute of it.

What happens if you put it on a USB drive and connect it Direct to the TV for playback with the built in video player?  Do you get HDR?

Hi all,

Thanks for the response.  When I put the file on a thumb drive and play with the built-in LG video player, it doesn't trigger HLG HDR either.  When I play it on my LG OLED TV through the Emby Beta app on my Roku Ultra, it does say "Direct" in the info screen during playback.  Playback starts pretty quickly, so I don't think it's recoding.  Is there some kind of log file I can pull for you from the Roku Ultra that will tell what's different?

Here's a 20 second clip:

Thanks!

There are actually other topics about this and the issue is that LG is not making this available to all apps to utilize at this time.

Hi guys, thank you for update... i must say i am having exactly same problems as before with version 1.0.8 , with speed of Emby on my LG TV  49UB850V-ZD (webos 1.4.0-2334), Emby interface is still very slow... not usable... takes up to 30 seconds to load home "Movies page" , and after clicking on one movie takes another 15 seconds to load Movie info page, after pressing play it takes another 15 seconds before it is played...after stopping playback it takes again up to 15 seconds before Movie info page is loaded again....

Could be my TV is older (2015), but i don't think this should be reason as Plex is working just fine... At this point i am using Emby on my mobile devices, but on my TV i am using Plex... hope this will be fixed some time so i could use Emby on all my devices

Best regards

Miki

I'm in the exact situation. I have 2015 TV with WebOS 1.4 and it is really slow, exactly what you described. I just retest it tonight and nothing has changed. I'm very surprised that the emby app is very hard to run for our tv. In the other side, the Plex app seems to run well? I would like to use it for sure but currently, it is just not usable...

To the dev team, do you think there is some improvement that could be done on LG app to be able to run well on WebOS 1.4?

Thanks

Hello,

On my LG C8 tv, using .ass subtitles has been working perfectly so far for HDR movies.
But today it doesn't work anymore for me. I was told that .ass subs are not supported by LG.

If I attempt to run a HDR movie using a .ass sub, Emby just exits and stops.

How do you guys proceed to read HDR movies and subtitles without transcoding?

Ass subtitles are supported in the app but there is an issue with the current released version that will be resolved in the next update. Thanks.
