Maybe, depends on what apps you are using. But that is why we also have the optional in network path field right on the same screen.

I am aware of the network path on the same screen.

Running Emby for WMC and WMC on my other machines

Will have to sort out the UNC issue on my network and then test.

Morning,

Got another problem now, since the lastest Emby for WMC update Version 3.2.30.0 my Collections folder in emby for WMC is empty?

See attached screenshots.

My interpretation (& YMMV) is that 'legacy' folder-structure based collections have become a problem. I use the Auto Box Sets plugin to create collections based on TMDB collection IDs, plus some I manually created without a great deal of effort. This is the current 'preferred' method.

If the devs choose to soften their position, it's likely to be due to feedback in that thread.

FWIW, the plugin will automatically create all the TMDB collections. All others can be created quickly/easily in the webUI. I have 230-ish & only a small percentage were 'custom', & each only took < minute to create. Of all the 'adjustments' I've had to make during the course of Emby's evolution, this one was probably the most painless. If your folder-structure has things sorted to your liking, leave it... it has no bearing on the collections you create in the UI.

Ok, so it will not change anything in the folder structure?

What does it add to the folders?

When you say the UI, do you mean the "Browser Library" in the emby server?

New collection definitions will be stored in:

C:\Users\[admin]\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\data\collections

Contents of a collection folder is generally:

02/15/2017  04:36 PM             2,163 collection.xml
08/20/2017  10:29 PM    <DIR>          extrafanart
11/04/2016  09:19 AM            93,089 fanart.jpg
11/04/2016  09:30 AM            17,738 logo.jpg
11/04/2016  09:01 AM           218,410 poster.jpg

Install plugin & open the plugin settings in the management console. Select "Refresh Box Sets" to create box sets based on TMDB IDs:

This MAY take a while, but new items will appear in 'Collections' view.

To manually create a collection (my method):

- To get all the movies in one place, I'll select an actor (example: Quentin Tarantino) in the webUI:

The results of a keyword search could work here, as well.

- Left-click & hold on one of actor's movies to activate 'multi-select'. Check all movies of interest:

post-10374-0-00833100-1504011011_thumb.jpg

- From the '3-dot' menu in the upper-right hand corner, select 'Add To Collection':

post-10374-0-10222900-1504011025_thumb.jpg

This also applies to adding individual items.

- Default drop-down menu option is 'New'. Enter collection name below:

post-10374-0-91413200-1504011033_thumb.jpg

Or, select an existing collection from the drop-down menu.

- Add images & whatnot via collection detail screen in the WebUI to make things pretty... browse to old structure image?

- New collection created

Where do I switch on "This plug-in requires internet metadata fetching be enabled for Collections." in the emby server settings?

Switch on internet metadata fetching?

Is there somewhere that I can check a log to see if the Auto Box set plugin is working and what error's etc. are there?

The regular emby server log:

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/

However keep in mind the plugin relies on Tmdb data existing for your movies, which you probably don't have if you are just enabling internet metadata for the first time now. You might consider doing a force refresh on your movie library first.

What do you mean by force refresh?

Do you mean as per the attached.

Does the AUtobox set look for this "TheMovieDb Id:" as per the attache pic?

Will it ignore a movie folder if it already has a "manually created" collections.xml file in it? See attached sample.

The plug-in relies on the "TmdbCollectionId".  So, if that isn't there then that is why it isn't creating them.
