Adriaan 2 Posted August 14, 2017 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Morning, I can't seem to get flv files to play through Emby for WMC, I have installed shark codec and I can get it to play in Windows Media Player and if I right click on the .flv file (Movie/Series) and open with WMC it plays but just not inside Emby. Any ideas? Are you running a 64-bit version of Windows? If so, Shark007 codec packages have both an x86 & x64 component. Windows media player is, by default, a 32-bit app while WMC is 64-bit. Based on your description, it sounds like you've got things set up correctly for 32-bit, but not 64-bit. Open BOTH Shark007 32-bit / 64-bit Settings Application GUIs. On EACH, 1st select the 'Reset All' radio button in the lower left-hand corner, followed by rechecking 'Shark007 SUGGESTED settings'. This usually clears up most playback issues. When you installed 'Emby for WMC', it should have created a Start menu item called 'Emby for WMC Configurator'. This will let you define an external player for EMC. It so happens, I use the MPC-BE / MadVR install from Shark007's 'Tool' page, customized for his codecs. Works great, but is not quite a 'point 'n shoot' some would prefer. Luke 36990 Posted August 14, 2017 Share Posted August 14, 2017 I'm not sure why that file is transcoding, but try turning off quick sync in server settings. I switch off the option Enable hardware decoding for: H264 and now .flv files play. Strange thing though Shark codec does not seem to open when viewing .flv files. FLV files play only problem I can't skip forward or backwards or FWD or RWD when viewing FLV files. This only happens when viewing FLV files. If I right click on the FLV file and choose Windows Media Center to open the FLV file in windows explorer then I have all functions working i.e. Forward, rewind, skip forward and skip backwards. I think something has gone wrong with my sharing on the pc. Can't access any UNC paths. But I have attached the log just in case. The only way EMC will attempt a transcode is if it couldn't access your media location and you already confirmed they are not accessible. So you need to solve that issue.
