It could be that we're just pushing it too hard. Try going into settings for the casting app, and set your chromecast quality setting to 3mbps. See if that makes a difference. If it works well then you can gradually raise the setting until you see a problem again. Thanks.

Hi

I try, and the same result :/

My Chromecast Ultra works fine with video up to 4k, with youtube, Netflix is no problem, so performance probably doesn't problem on my side

I don't know what is a problem but around 10 of the movie, stream going to hell ...

Try dropping the in-app bitrate setting low enough to force it to transcode.

Full resolution - direct play -> problem start after about 10 minutes

720p - 4 mbps -> problem start about 30-40 minutes
720p - 1 mbps -> problem start about 60-75 minutes
480p and less -> no problem at all

same problem on the Emby Theater approximately at the same time

Seems to be OK but I'll let it run longer.

It sounds to me like your Chromecast wifi connection might be dropping in and out.

Does look like a network issue imho

Can your router/switch pull stats per port? Could help isolate the trouble to the network or server.

@@JulioQc, @@Luke

so ...

I tested this several time for different setup, and I have the same result almost every time ...

For example:

- I play one movie on Chromecast, connected via a new ethernet cable, I have 1 GB/s network structure ... and I have a problem

- I play the same movie on Android mobile app via A/C Wifi, and I have a no problem

For another topic

I play 4k videos on my Chromecast from YouTube or Netflix, and I have no problem at all ...

It looks like a network issue to me. I would suggest lowering the chromecast bitrate setting until you find a value that works. Let us know if this helps. Thanks.

so if this is a network issue why I have no problem on 4K YouTube or Netflix video?

Thanks

Because their 4k streams are not as high bitrate as you think, and they're also not trying to deliver it from a home computer or nas device.

So is there a debug method that confirms that this is really a network problem?

Because I try to transfer more than 120 GB of data via my network and with this, I don't have any problem, network work as I expect, transfer speed around 55-65 MBps

Was there a resolution to this one as I've got the same issue with Chromecast V2?

Movies direct playing sweet and then all of a sudden just stop.

I'm also using a Chromecast which is hard wired.

I'll have to do some testing tomorrow and post some logs with the findings.

Your wish is my command, I've added two log files which show one of my streams stopping for no apparent reason, and is consistently repeatable. This problem doesn't happen with all my blu-ray movies just some.

The bold section I've highlighted seems to show where the problem originates from and this then triggers the video to be stopped. Is there any more debugging I can turn on, as not sure this gives you guys much to go on?
