Feature Request: Restart (ET) and Reboot (computer)

Hi,

 

Sorry if this is old news, but it would be really useful to have the option of re-starting Emby Theater (close and re-start), and of rebooting the computer, from within ET along with the exit and shutdown options.

 

This would be super-useful for those of us using ET as a main household appliance on the lounge TV. It's a pain for me to have to fiddle about finding and using the wireless keyboard, and completely beyond my better half and the kids.

 

Don't want to seem ungrateful for the fantastic work you guys do, but it would be really handy if possible.

Easy enough to schedule a daily restart of a PC without it having to be programmed in ET.  I do a daily reboot following my daily disk image backup.  

 

Exiting and restarting ET is easy enough to do via a remote by utilizing logitech harmony software and the existing in interface options

However, I'm still using my trusty MCE remote and have invested too much time/effort into MCE/R6 compatible hardware, I certainly don't want to spend extra £'s on a new remote to avoid a small inconvenience.

 

Equally, sometimes (especially when the machine is waiting to action a Windows Update) the computer gets 'buggy', or slow, or whatever, and I just want to do a quick restart there and then to re-set everything. I have never set a regular overnight restart, as I often record TV programs through the night, e.g. US live sports, but it is a good idea so I might think about it.

ye same here a restart option would be great. i still have the issue with ET changes resolution when my TV or Amp goes off. Then it doesnt return to full screen.

 

what i ended up doing is getting a program called restartoncrash, it monitors emby so when i 'Exit' emby it automatically re-opens it and its full screen again. with a bit of bat file magic you can make it so that when you 'Exit' emby it detects that emby is closed and restarts the PC.
