Well I think something on your side is blocking it, sorry. You can always use the portable install method which is also on the download page of the website.

Tried to upgrade again this time with Norton uninstalled, and Windows Defender turned off. Same result. Any thoughts on what else could be blocking it?

Also looked at the portable install. Downloaded and ran as advertised. Downloaded and ran 3.2.23, and watched it successfully upgrade itself to 3.2.24, no problem.

I usually run Emby as a Windows service. Can the portable version be used that way?

Yes, but something is probably blocking the installed version based on the path to the executable, and sooner or later it may happen to your portable setup too.

... and then a miracle. It seems to have updated itself. I didn't do it, in fact I was getting ready to nuke the machine back to bod-standard Windows 10 when I noticed this.

Go figure.

Many thanks for your time and attention.
