VLC crashes Extensible Host in Emby

I recently went to using VLC as an external player for all of my videos because it offers support for .img and .iso files. However, when VLC is playing the file, a pop up stating  that the Extensible Host has stopped working and I will be returned to Media Center. That occurs for normal video files. when attempting to load an .img or .iso  file it get an error stating that the command line for VLC is incorrect and it  does not play the file.

As far as I know, VLC does not  need  a command line reference to play an .img or .iso...

I would really rather not have to decompress my files if possible...

Have you checked that your configured external player command line is correct?

I checked at VLC's documentation area, and none of they command line options relate to playing a specific type of file.

Just double clicking on a file will cause it to play.

I have reverted to using the internal player even though I may end up having to de-compress my other files. It is becoming simpler to do that.

Thank you for your attention

Larry

Yea I haven't used the VLC command line in a long while but just be aware that when you use an external player you are expected to know the command line arguments, and then enter them in external player setup.
