PittPilot 0
I tried installing Emby on a 2nd Gen Fire TV and it looks great and it mostly worked well execpt for digital audio output. When watching Live TV - receiver (Onkyo Receiver that the Fire is connected directly to) shows Dolby D and its in 5.1 channel mode. When playing the exact same show as recorded, its in 2.0 channel mode. I've tried converting from the normal format to MP4 and MKV and while it plays fine, the audio is still 2.0. The same appears to be true for all the movies I tried. My library is in MKV containers with AC3 audio tracks and all play in 2.0 mode. It appears that its not bitstreaming anything in AC3 format. I checked the app settings and it is set to direct play, but that's the only audio setting I can find. Is this the limitation of the Fire TV OS that has been discussed? Should I switch to a Shield to get the best audio performance from a streaming box? Thanks
ebr 14903
Can you please play one of these and follow the instructions to send a log from the app? Also please include the server and any ffmpeg logs. Thanks.
PittPilot 0
Just sent the logs at ~2:20pm EST. Tried to play guardians of the Galaxy, Patriot Day, and The Big Bang Theory. All said 5.1 and all played in 2.0. Local user is Greg. I think all were direct playing. Attached is the server log, not ffmpeg log was generated during my test. Thanks for the assistance. server-63633772800.txt
ebr 14903
Okay, the answer is the items are interlaced (or, at least, Emby Server thinks they are) and we are choosing to play them in VLC in order to deinterlace them client side instead of having to transcode them and VLC cannot bitstream DD on the Fire. If you choose the "Playback Correction..." item from the menu during playback, do you get your DD 5.1?
PittPilot 0
Yes - after selecting "Playback Correction.." I do get DD 5.1. I think the picture quality is slightly worse though. Is there any setting I can change to force this to play using this method?
ebr 14903
Other than what you just did, not at this time.
