cmcrista 0
Hey guys, Don't know if i'm in the right spot but i installed Emby on my synology 214play and in my own network everything is working fine. I wanted to connect at my parents house but it is not working. What i did: Port 8096 and 8945 are forwarded in the router. Synology has a static IP tried on my phone, on my home pc and at my parents house the tv app. ofcourse tried to restart everything. i read the wiki but it does not help me. can somebody tell me what im doing wrong? Luke 36876
Hi there @@cmcrista, I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter. Please try the steps listed there and let us know exactly which ones succeed and which ones fail. Thanks !

cmcrista 0
the external IP adres is the same as the synology server but with a different port. Is that normal? When i try to connect it says: something like "IP adres" has refused the connection. Maybe it has something to do with login to the Synology NAS? can i enter my username and pass for the synology somewhere? Sven 136
Internal the same as external.Mostly that's not the same IP... Unless you receive specific IP from your provider If you check this site http://whatismyipaddress.com/ It's probably different from the one you tried. Right? Hey, my IP adress is different but the external acces to synology is the same as emby. Only at the end the port is different. Synology is 5000 and emby 8096. I think it is a problem with opening the port. When i check if port 8096 is open in the router, it says it is. But if i check it on one of those port sites it says it cant connect. It is forwarded the same as the other ports but for some reasons the ports for emby cant be accesed.
Sven 136
Ah yeah indeed, it's the same IP. If you did that in your router it should be working. And it's working for your synology? You are using the http or https version?

You are using the http or https version? Yeah it should. But it isn't strange enough. I'm using http and i can acces my synology from an external point yes. A friend of mine is going to check the port forward settings when he has time. but i dont know why it doesnt work with 8096 and works with 5000.
