Blue Neon Night - Having Trouble WIth Live TV

The last couple of days (after Emby Version 3.2.20.0 was installed in our server) - we are having trouble with our Roku 3600 sticks connecting to Live TV, while using Blue Neon Night.

Most of the time, when we click on a Live TV channel, it sits there waiting for the data to be sent from our server.

The little progress line at the bottom of the screen never moves beyond 15 - 20%.  Eventually, you might see it time out.

Blue Neon Night appears to work normally when playing recorded video from the server.

We are running the latest Version of Emby server software - Version 3.2.20.0

The Roku 3600 sticks are running version 7.6.0 Build 4125

Speechles, when you get a minute, see if you have the same problem on our server.

Have you upped the videoplayer timeout to the maximum of 2m? By default its 30s. Also make sure both the remote and liveTV bitrate settings are using sane values. Have you already done this?

I will have time to test this on your server tonight(using info you provided earlier). Once I test it on my end I will get back to you in this thread. Rest assured that.. can we fix it? Yes we can.. Apologies for the issues too. I havent made changes to the app that would cause this so more than likely its a change in the server. I will investigate, thanks for the report. :)

Also, try using "force transcode" and "force transcode w/o directstream" does this make it play? Using the w/o directstream option will disable "stream copy"(aka directstream) when transcoding and create a full transcode. One of these play methods should, in theory, work. *crosses fingers*

The "videoplayer timeout" setting is found in preferences, the gear icon of the options row. Raise this to the maximum of 2 minutes, 2m.

The bitrate settings, might need both remote and liveTV set to the same value. Since your liveTV is at a remote server location.

Does this explain, or is there still an issue here?

With regard to Blue Neon, I have done both of your suggestions.  Raised this to the maximum of 2 minutes.

I always set all three bitrate settings to the same value.  Normally run at the default 3 MB.value.

I have changed all 3 bitrates settings down to 2 MB and 1 MB.

Can't tell that any of the above makes any difference of actually getting the stream connected to our remote server to view Live TV.

In a nutshell, when trying to connect to the live TV stream, you are lucky if it gets connected.

It will time out and retry on its own.  Maybe eventually, it will connect.  I generally stop the app, get out of Blue Neon, start it again and try until I can finally get it to connect.

The connection progress bar generally doesn't move off of the left side.  If it ever moves a little bit to the right, it generally will connect to the Live TV stream.

Blue Neon always connects to programs that we have recorded and are stored on our server.

Luke, since you updated your official app -  will not connect to LIve TV without a Premier Subscription.  My subscription ran out, therefore I cannot test it.  I need to renew the subscription.

The Official app works well on recorded material.

Seeing the same issue. I don't know that I can fully blame blue neon as trying live TV on the official app is also hit and miss on my Roku 3. Again I don't know that I can blame the apps as my stupid cable TV provider decided that it would be a great idea to do away with all SD channels and have nothing but HD. As I am currently trying to watch the news for some storms coming in this is frustrating. I will try to post logs this week.

Having the same Issue Live TV on Roku 3 is hit and miss and channels take an age to open. I know this is not server related as i have same server on Emby on an Android box and the same Channels work and open within a few seconds if not instantly. Also the VOD is better on the Android box ( please don't say just use the android box as I prefer the Roku and is tiny which helps as I take it away with me on Business and Holidays a lot.
