SilentAssassin

Thanks @@FrostByte !

@@SilentAssassin are you sure you pressed a volume key and not something else?

That's what I thought initially but I went back in and made sure that I was pressing the volume button.

is anyone else seeing volume crashing the app, @@shorty1483?

I do not get to the point to try this one out  :D, but I also use a connected Audio Receiver.

@shorty1483  What fixed bitrate are you running at?  I have mine set at 30MBs which is the highest my tv manual says it can go and I haven't had any crashes with 106.  I've played several movies, and episodes with no issues.  The previous version I could get to crash all the time

Do you see the new spinner with 106?

The only two issues I have are the known chapters and actors bugs which were reported with the Tizen app also.

Yesterday I tried with setting Auto and fixed bitrate of 1080p60Mbit. But today I tested the suggested 1080p30Mbit with the same results. I tried with several standard conform mkvs, h264 level 4.1, ac3 or dts(hd).

Scenario 1: Movie Bitrate around 10 Mbit -> movie starts sucessfully and plays for a few seconds, then the app force closes.

Scenario 2: Movie Bitrate high (Remuxes) -> movie does not even start. When trying to play the item, the app force closes.

Could it be a buffer or RAM problem? But why the heck it works with the old app?

Are all the people having issues living outside the US?  Just strange I'm not having any of these issues and so many others are.  I know a lot of the people having issues are in Europe

I'm in the states.  I'll do more testing tonight on my videos that work and check the volume buttons.

Thanks, just wondering if the remotes are different in the two regions thus causing the app to crash when doing things like changing the volume for some.  I've watched several movies and episodes with no issues.  My volume Down, UP and Mute all work and show the OSD properly.  Maybe I'm just lucky :)

I confirmed the volume issue on a 2.0 audio file.  It also crashed when trying to resume the file.  Both up and down volume cause it to immediately crash.

I have a Samsung UN40H6350

I have a UN55HU8550 with the latest available software 1210 in the US and when I change the volume the app crashes. I've only ever installed the TV Emby app version 0.106

edit: Looks like the video that was playing when the TV app crashed continues to play (on the server) even though I'm not watching. But I can resume video playback without issues

This is what I recognized to on every crash.

Are the files being transcoded maybe?  Subtitles?

I've tried mono, stereo, and 5.1 with no crashes

AC3, DTS, PCM, and even MP3 in on file with no crashes

I tried playing the movie La Haines with external srt subtitles with no crashing changing volume

I have a multi button remote which came with my BD-player and the laser pointer remote which came with my evo kit and neither one crashes the app when changing volume

Only options in the app I changed are Max streaming 1080p 30 Mbps (highest recommended in users manual) and I unchecked the cinema option

I don't have anything that transcodes, but I did try setting my streaming to 720p 5Mbps and still no issues

One difference is that I have a 2013 TV with an evo kit which makes all the internals a 2014.  It's not an actual H-series TV

Besides checking to see if it's transcoding or has subtitles, can anyone say if they see the OSD now for all three commands (Vol Up, Vol Dn, and Mute)?  Does it pop up before crashing?  I'm now seeing the OSD for those commands with version 106 and wasn't in version 105

Also, do you see the new spinner?  Or is it still the pixelated multi colored one?

Edit: did anyone delete the old version 105 before updating to 106?  I know it's a pita, but that has been found to help in the past.

That is surely a coincidence, and more likely associated with playing the video an additional time.

1. Files with vs. without subs, 5.1 vs. 2.0, high vs. low bitrate return the same result.

2. New spinner

3. Did fresh install anyway to eleminate this possible source of error.

As I said, at least I cannot test OSD or remote buttons since I do not get to that point.

Each time a different video was played from the library, I don't see any controls on the screen one thing I did notice was a little grey rectangle at the top left hand side about 1cm high 2 cm wide

Can you try copying one of these videos into a new home videos library, then see if the problem occurs as a home video? Thanks.

Ok, Asian model then (UA = Asia, UE = Europe, UN = North America, etc).

According to your one post it sounds like the app usually errors after clicking some command on your remote (Play, Volume change, etc).  The weird symbol in the corner of the screen that you saw when clicking the remote is also odd

Yeah that hasn't happened again seems to of disappeared now,

in summary

with the stable version of emby server I can play back until I touch the volume

with the Beta version of emby server don't get any playback
