I've seen the small grey box in the top left if I select 'Stats for Nerds' from the settings in an app when the stats are not supported by the app yet.  By default it should be off anyway.

 

@@FrostByte, do you see Stats for Nerds in the player settings for this app?  If you select it you probably get the same small (empty) box.  I don't expect this would cause the player to crash though.

The gray box he's referring to could be the logo image in process of being downloaded. That's one of the reasons why I asked if he could test the same video but copied into a home videos library so that it has no other images besides primary (among other reasons). Thanks.

OK, I started again from scratch and tried a few movies here and there. I cannot see a a clear way why file A is working and file B not.

 

@@SamES I attached a few mediainfos, app behaviour is in file name.

 

 

@@Luke I'm thinking the problems people having could be due to reframes in combination with higher bitrates? Seems the new app player is pretty picky.

Apologies if you have already answered this.  Are you using a soundbar or receiver for sound?  If so, could you please try disconnecting it and try again with just the TV speakers?  Thanks

Yes I use a receiver. Detached it right now and set sound to TV speaker output. I cannot verify with data, but it seems a bit more stable. But Now I also have the FC problem when pressing Volume keys. @@FrostByte

@Tuffnutz @shorty1483  could you guys also try power cycling your TVs?  Remove the power cable from the back of your TV and wait for about a minute.  The Red light in the bottom corner will eventually go out after power has been removed for so long.  Then plug the cable back in and try again.

No dice. Tried this several times, also just now after app froze and the video OSD was shown in front of the regular TV picture  :unsure:

Update, sorry slow to look into this.  Summarizing what I've found.  There's two issues I've experienced,  some files play and some don't, initial test with that is the 5.1 audio failed and the 2.0 worked, more testing needed on this as I directed my

testing towards the volume changing causes crashes on the videos that play for now.

 

UN40H6350 is TV

I unplugged TV as suggested.  I deleted app and redownloaded official from app store.

After volume crashes occur it comes up as still playing on the server, detailing as Emby Theater 0.102 (is that right? )  Couldn't look in the app as I'm not sure where it shows the version, but shouldn't it be 0.106?

Transcoding - 4.0 Mbps ts h264 ac3  is what It shows.

I restarted the playback of the same show and reproduced the problem a few minutes into the show by pressing the up volume key (before it was down).

@coolspot the only way I know of to check the version is to go back to the Samsung store and click on Emby in the Store.  Then toward the top right there should be a line with two version numbers.  One is the current version they have and the other is the version you have loaded.  So they should both say 106 if you have the latest released version

 

Edit: I think you may also be able to go to the hub and highlight the app and hold the enter key down on the app for a few seconds.  A menu should come up and then choose "View Details"

Ah found it in the "View Details" area.  Says I have 106 installed so not sure why the discrepancy between that and what the server sees.

Also I have tried playing smaller files lesser bitrate and 720p and even 480p and all them crash to

Confirmed, crashes at the homescreen without playing anything with volume press.

 

Just curious, where are you located?  In the US or Canada?  Wondering if you changed your region, or not.
