Video playback crashes with high bit rate media

Hey Guys,

 

I'm having and issue with Emby Server (I think) in which high bit rate media will crash my playback.  I'm not 100% sure what's going on and was looking for some advice on how I can fix this issue.  I'm running Emby Server 3.2.17.10 beta (the crashes happen on all versions I've tried) on Centos 7.  I'm watching through the Emby App on a FireTV, but the crashing also happens through the browser.  All my media is housed on a FreeNas server.

 

I submitted the debug file from the Emby App at about 12:20 CST on 5/26/2017 and will attach my log files below  The server logs are just before and after the crash.  Any help would be awesome.

Hi, if you're running beta it's important that you stay up to date with the latest. Since that is several versions behind now, please update and then let's reevaluate. thanks !

The latest is actually 3.2.17.16. Your log says 3.2.17.10. Nonetheless it looks like an error coming from ffmpeg:

Okay, does that mean I need to update ffmpeg or something?  I guess that would make the most sense if that's where it was failing.

You're obviously not going to want to hear this but it sounds like either the video files are corrupted or you have a hard disk failure. If you need a second opinion, see here:

I would determine if this is a corrupt file or a corrupt disk. A "read error" sounds like a bad disk to me. If that is the case you probably have bigger problems than reading that video file. I would suggest doing a complete backup of the disk. You can use dd_rescue (or ddrescue) for that purpose which doesn't stop on bad sectors but makes a copy of everything readable on the disk. Once you have got that done, you can take care of the video file on the backup disk.

If the disk is on the verge of failing, the worst you can do is continuing to use it since it may stop working completely anytime soon.

What you could try as a test is putting a video on the same drive that emby server is installed on, rather than your mounted drives. See if that plays OK.
