Starlionblue 80
I have a TS-451A with 2GB of RAM and 4x 6TB drives in RAID 5. The only thing I run apart from simple file serving is Emby. After a few hours of uptime, checking the memory page in Resource Monitor tells me my Swap File Usage is high. The graph shows about 560MB out of 16GB, which is about 3.5%. Everything works fine. Anyone else getting these messages?
Sven 136
And that comes from the Emby App? Or...
Starlionblue 80
And that comes from the Emby App? Or... Not specifically from the Emby App but since that's basically all I'm running... Sorry for being unclear.
sstt671 1
I was getting similar messages, that went away once I upgraded my QNAP RAM from 2GB to 8GB. Now Swap memory usage is less than 140MB (out of 16GB available). I doubt that Emby is solely responsible for high swap memory message. One thing I did notice is that Emby needs more RAM than Plex.

Solution Starlionblue 80 Posted June 5, 2017 Author Solution Share Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) Problem solved. I increased the installed RAM from 2GB to 8GB. Now, with 8GB installed, memory usage sits around 1.8GB and swap file is at 0%. My guess is when I only had 2GB, there was an excessive amount of swapping out, which led to the swap file usage messages. I bet 4GB would have been enough, but go big or go home and stuff...
