Live TV not working

Hey Guys,

My Roku 3 uploaded with the latest update of Emby for Roku.  Now my live TV won't work.  When I choose a channel to watch I get a circle spinning in the middle of the screen an nothing happens.  I try using the back button to go back a step but the circle stays in place although I do see the menu options changing in the background in a gray color.  I end up having to exit the application and start it again.

I can play recorded TV video, movies, etc with no issues just not live TV.  It appears from the status from NextPVR that it is not starting up to provide any video stream but I am attaching logs.

I have also tested on this device using Blue Neon Light with no issue at all.  My other Roku 3 device has not updated so it works well with the previous version at the moment.

Thanks for your help!

I am having the exact same problem. When I pull up emby server it says it's trying to direct stream the TV channels when I try to play them on my Roku 3 with the latest server and Roku app. Obviously it should be transcoding.

Hdhomerun.

Does that mean with the internal live TV support?

Why do you feel they should "obviously" be transcoding?

Let me be a bit more clear. I've been using emby server and the Roku emby app to view view tv from my HDhonerun for months now without issue. With the roll out of the new Roku app live TV just throws an error after about 30 seconds of trying to play the channel. When I look at the emby server status while this happening it says " Roku-direct streaming". It obviously should not be direct streaming because Virtually all TV channels are mpeg-2 which the Roku cannot decode. Emby server always transcodes TV for playback on the Roku. I can try again later today and post a log for more info. Thanks for the help.

Ok. I tried again. When I tried to play the live TV after about 30 seconds of seeing the spinning wheel on the Roku app, it did play without a problem. However, when I stopped it and went to play a second channel the spinning wheel sat on the screen for about 30 seconds and said "There was an error processing the request. Please try later." Log is attached.

I just finished trying some stuff out as well.  I get the spinning wheel indefinitely.  During that time I'm watching NextPVR status and not seeing any activity, like its not being called to tune the channel.  I have to close the application to actually get the spinning to stop.  Simply backing up to the main menu will not work.  Its like the application is locked.

The app is not trying to direct stream. You just see that on the dash before the app has decided exactly how it is going to play the item.

This sounds like the player is timing out trying to tune to the channel.  How long did it typically take to tune to channels with the old app?

I uploaded an application log today at 1:15PM hoping that with the server logs I posted above there is enough information to get some help.  I can't believe I am the only one affected.

What was the name of the Emby user?  MH-HP?

If so, I don't see a playback attempt in that log.

I keep seeing the response to 127.0.0.1 time being in the thousands of milliseconds with (slow) in brackets. I don't recall seeing that in any of my previous logs. All times were in the tens of milliseconds. Getting this on all devices, Iphone, Roku etc. All devices take quite a long time to retrieve the media file or the TV stream.

Then we're no longer talking about something related only to the new Roku app?

Possibly. The media does eventually play on my iPhone though. Times out on roku it seems. I will troubleshoot further and report back.

The app hangs when I try to play live TV so I have to exit the app and then send the log.  Does the log reset each time the app starts?  I'll try again a bit later and take some pics of what my screen looks like as well.

Okay folks so I tried again and uploaded a log at 7:00pm EDT.  I have attached pictures showing that I get the spinning circle through all the menu screens until I exit the app.  I also just tried another log file with debug enabled from my previous session.  Same spinning circle, but was able to navigate to the Send Logs option and got confirmation it went, then exited the app.

Hope that is helpful.

Turned out to be a cable card issue for me. Intermittent service. Thanks for your help.

Hi.  Can you do this again but wait a little longer (like at least 60 seconds) before sending the log from the app?  Also, post the server log from the same session.  Thanks.

Your log above never returned from the initial call to get information on the stream.
