Yatse with Emby support

This is the standard changelog that I copy paste :) Yatse is still for the moment labelled as Kodi remote first. (Play Store have automatic refunds for tests ;)

There was plans to change that by splitting the app, but Google changed their rules and it's no more really allowed, I'm trying to discuss with them about the possible options.

I have to say that it just seems quite misleading.  It is advertised on here but not made clear that unless you have previously purchased Yatse Unlocker / Pro, even installing the app is a waste of time unless you are immediately prepared to pay £3.49.

Furthermore, the Play Store description made me flash back to secondary school English lessons when we read Animal Farm:

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others

"Free version is fully functional without any ads", except for the fact that unless you are connecting to Kodi, it is not functional in the slightest.  All discretely denoted by the small * dotted throughout the description.

Well I'm not native English speaker but I'd love to see your skills in other languages ;) If there's mistakes it's usually better to tell them so others can fix and learn, instead of looking like a ... ;)

Users asked me to add support for Emby, I did, I posted here when it was done and most of the time I post the changelog here when I do not forget or there's things related to Emby, the first post is not even a full post with tons of description and ads about the app.

If it did bother Emby Team it would have been deleted.

Now if you can't read an application description and find that a clear text explaining what is paid is missleading, it's your choice. You have tons of times to make videos, screenshots, put colors, but did not thought about reading the few lines before installing?

Yatse name is still Yatse: KODI REMOTE ... And yes title does matters actually ;) And yes 100% of the Kodi remote functions are free. And yes the application is without ads.

If you can't read an application title and the first paragraph maybe you should stop installing applications.

So why don't you go whine somewhere else? :)

The best part being that you quote: "Free version is fully functional without any ads" and that the note about what is paid is the sentence just after to have it really clear.

Furthermore Play Store clearly indicates that there's In App purchase, so usually you'd read the description to find out exactly what is paid. And guess what it's 100% clearly described.

So to resume I'm actually more clean than 95% of the applications on the store by being ads free, fully functional and clearly describing the paid functions.

You may want to do the same analyse on Emby own Android app ;)

And to finish about the package name, maybe you should learn about how those works and can't be changed. Yes this is the free version that exists since 8 years now, and it's users who asked me to make a paid version to pay me with the creation of the legacy unlocker. Then I was forced to move to In App thanks to Amazon and here we are a package name that is 8 years old and can't change ;)

Want a fun one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox That is clearly no more a search box.

Hi

Just downloaded / paid for the Pro version to test the android offline features - might be a stupid question, but is there a way of opening up the download queue manager, if the queue process isn't currently running?

I can see you can manage offline files in settings, but that only shows completed downloads. It's not obvious where I can see files that are queued for download, if download isn't running.

Eg. I start syncing files. I go offline before the sync is complete, so download manager disappears from the notification area - what's still left to sync? If I then go back online, there's no easy way to kick the downloads back off manually, other than waiting for it to start again...

What would also be nice is a centralised list of all the smart syncs defined - I know you can see them show by show from the little icons bottom left of the show poster, but you can't get a list of all of them in one place...

Might be there somewhere, but I can't see it! :)

Thanks!

Download manager should not disappear when download stop, if there's no notification then there's no more queue :(

Smart sync download should start again as soon as the host is back online and you are on Wifi if the Wifi only setting is activated. If it's not the case please open an issue with more details so I can look into it: https://yatse.tv/wiki/debug-yatse-kodi-remote

Plans are to improve on both queue saving when killed by OS and listing of the smart downloads, but still have not really decided how / where, as all in settings should be host agnostic, but smart sync and queue are host specific.

Please open an like an feature requests at https://community.yatse.tv/c/feature-requests so I can priorise that in the queue.

Thanks - I tried it again later and the queue came back when the server came online, so it may be that the OS killed it. I read in the FAQ that if the app is killed by the OS then the downloads can vanish...

I also want to add a +1 for download of transcoded content for space reasons, so I'll register at some point to log that too :)

This is only true for manually downloaded content, smart sync rules will never be lost and always applied.

For transcode before download please add a comment about the kind of settings and usage you'd like. This is a vast and complex subject to fully address all needs and I have still not decided what will be the scope when I'll add that.

Hey guys,

since some releases of emby and yatse I cannot scroll anymore my video streams played in Yatse from emby server.

Is this the default behaviour now or maybe just a specific problem of mine?

Thanks a lot.

Edit: with the emby android app, it works.

@@Tolriq - You're a champ. I haven't used YATSE for years (I paid for it) since I stopped using Kodi, but I know it is, and always was, the best choice for the functions it offered.

Glad to see you added support for Emby integration. Thanks for your continued efforts

As the kids are want to say these days... FACTS.  :D

I'm in exactly the same boat (although I do have a use case for Kodi from time to time). Thank you so much.

Hey Tolriq,

Any plans for leveraging BubbleUPNP for transcoded offline content to reduce file sizes? I know offline transcoding has been a feature request on your forums for a while :)

Using offline sync for TV Shows works great as file sizes are reasonably sensible, but syncing 40G movies fill up memory cards pretty quickly :)

Thanks!
