TV Episodes Disappering

Hello,

I've just noticed that certain seasons of my TV shows are suddenly showing as blank (both on WMC and via Browser), in that no episodes are listed.

I haven't changed my folder structure, all the files are there so I can't figure out why it's happening.

My folder structure is G:\TV Shows\Breaking Bad\Season 1\01X01.mp4

Breaking Bad for example looks like this for all the seasons:

If I do a refresh, it restores the episodes but they disappear again a few minutes later.

hi @@lardners, is this still happening? If so, let's take a look at the server log. Can you please refresh to bring the episodes back, then wait those few minutes until they disappear. Once they disappear, please provide us with the emby server log. you can learn how to do that here:

https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/

Thanks !

Hi Luke

Thanks for replying. Yes it's still happening; at the moment it seems to be having issues with season 4 specifically for Breaking Bad and The Wire.

I am on the latest server version 3.2.13.0

You can see here, the Breaking Bad S4 episodes are missing on web interface:

I did a refresh on Season 4 at 09:11 (my time)

The episodes re-appeared at 09:13:

They disappeared a few minutes later at around 09:15.

Logs attached.

What kind of metadata do you have in the folders? nfo, xml, or neither?

What kind of metadata do you have in the folders? nfo, xml, or neither?

It's XML, there's a series.xml in the breaking bad folder, a season.xml in each season folder and then a metadata folder (within the season folder) which has 04x01.xml, 04x02.xml etc.

I am guessing those metadata files do not contain the season/episode numbers, and further, i am guessing you have disabled emby metadata nfo saving?

So that is your problem. You have incomplete metadata. You refresh and Emby fills in missing data, but it's unable to save anywhere because you've disabled  it. Then those xml files get re-read, and the data in the xml replaces everything.

I would suggest dropping those xml files and using Emby nfo support.

If you still want to use xml, @@Happy2Play may have some advice because he does that I think.

What program is generating your xmls?  Can you provide the information in one of the episode xml files.

Are all the other season "m4v" files also?

I didn't know that emby used nfo, I thought XML was the standard.

If I am to change to NFO, on menu below, should I be moving NFO to the top and then check the box for NFO under metadata savers?

Nfo is actually the standard and the default. What you can do is enable nfo saving, and move nfo reading to the top of the priority list (which is default). Thanks !

Hi Happy2Play

I don't have a program (that I know of) that generates the xmls, I thought EMBY was generating them.

All of the episodes are m4v except for 12 episodes in Season 5 which are MKV.

I've switched over to NFO and did a refresh of Breaking Bad. This has created tvshow.nfo, season.nfo and 04x01.nfo files etc......but still have the same problem; seasons 1,2,3 & 5 are fine but season 4 is not showing any episodes.

Makes no sense to me. I can't see any difference between the files and folders in Season 4 compared to the other seasons.

did you delete the xml files?

Yes deleted all XML files before the refresh.

There is an empty folder called metadata in each season folder, should I remove it or does that matter?

Hi Luke

I sorted this by stopping the server, deleting library.db and refreshinfo.db from data folder and then doing a fresh library scan.

All episodes for my tv shows are showing and all my metadata is in NFO now too so all good.

Thanks for your help.
