No, I'm all good with it being resizable. I think it's a god thing. It's a feature I can use. So if that stays as is, I think we're on a winner :)

I'm actually just curious though, can you try it? Use this main.js.

It's  just a quick hack for testing purposes so you won't be able to resize at all. you'll need to use the control box in the upper right. Thanks.

Yup, still lets the mpv.conf take the lead. That's awesome! My hwdec configs work without hacking the playbackhandler :D

Can you play live TV in other apps?

Having an external player set was what was causing my TV issue. I changed that and all is well.

But I guess that means with ET there has to be a trade off between an external player and live TV? Because in the external player settings there is only a selection for "video", which assumes any video (as it should).

I think someone else reported that, a little while ago. It isn't supposed to be like that.

Hey guys,

I've just started playing with HEVC 10 files. Having trouble playing them successfully on my i5 Surface Pro 3. I understand that browsers wont play HEVC, but I thought that ET would. I have attached a screenshot with Stats for Nerds showing.

Whilst playing this file Server shows ffmpeg using about 30% CPU - prob due to Audio conversion of 7.1 down to Stereo - as SfN is showing Direct play.

Playback is very stop / start. I have tried pretty much all of the Video settings available to me in ET but cannot get any HEVC file to play smoothly.

Any Ideas?

thanks

**EDIT**:

Just to prove that it's not the Network or the Hardware - VLC is able to play it perfectly... obviously on the same pc and with the same network connection (2.4Ghz Wi-Fi).

You're trying to play a 4k HEVC with no hardware acceleration. That's just not gonna work on a device as weak as that. Look at the stats...502 dropped frames.

Do you have a suggestion as to the correct HA settings? As I said above, I have pretty much tried them all with no luck.

@Doofus,  Clearly the SP3 is capable - VLC proves that. I guess the question should be: How do I enable HA for ET?

thanks

If auto doesn't work, mpv might be silently disabling it. Try playing a 1080 HEVC, and see if enables.

This movie plays perfectly, no stop / start issues. just a significantly lower bitrate. HA is still not enabled.

ET video settings are all either Auto or unchecked - version 3.0.6

EDIT: I've now tried several 1080 HEVC files and they all play great - no dropped frames. None of them activate HA.

Try changing your display resolution to 1080.

Try changing your display resolution to 1080.

Display res now matches Video size - both at 1920 * 1080.

Playback still good no dropped frames

So everything is now playing, correctly?

1080 stuff appears fine, however the 4k movie above still drops frames at about the same rate.
