jbirmingham40 7
Seems to be bug in the ExoPlayer when playing a MPEG2VIDEO contained inside an MOV container on Fire TV. I did a variety of tests with different containers, video codecs, and audio codecs across four different players including Samsung, Fire TV, iOS, and Chrome to narrow down the issue. The issue only exhibits itself in one specific case which is playing a MPEG2VIDEO contained inside an MOV container on Fire TV. Fire TV direct plays the video and audio but, unlike the audio, the video does not play. This is happening on the latest generation 4k Fire TV stick that was released in November using the latest Fire TV client. My test results are below if it helps. 1. MOV H264 AAC - all direct play fine 2. MOV H264 AC3 - Samsung, iPad, and Fire TV all direct play fine. Chrome direct streams fine. 3. MOV MPEG2VIDEO AC3 - Samsung and iPad direct play fine. Fire TV direct plays but has the blank screen issue. Chrome transcodes and plays fine. 4. MPEGTS MPEG2VIDEO AC3 - Samsung and iPad direct play fine, Fire TV remux and plays fine, Chrome transcodes and plays fine To workaround the issue I will just change the container from MOV to MPEGTS. ebr 14910
Hi. Is Mpeg-2 supported in an MOV container? MOV is supposed to be Apple Quicktime... Also, I would suggest either mp4 or mkv over .ts for containers. Thanks.
jbirmingham40 7
Not sure if it is support but mp4 seems to work fine so will convert everything over to mp4. Thanks for the pointer.
