Emby WMC takes a long time to load

On the first config page, how do you have the "Login Behavior" option set?

 

It's set to "Log in Current User".

 

I've also tried "Show Profile Screen", but it still takes ages to load before the "Please Select a User Profile" screen appears.

As I mentioned above, that setting implies a specific server as well.  That's why the server setting keeps changing on you.

 

In any event, I think we know that the issue here is that some factors cause your local traffic to be routed through your VPN and that's what needs to be dealt with.
