Not sure if its doable, ive tried a few things, but m3u live tv, if we could section it into   subsections, ie movies, sports etc. if  u have 200 channels on a list its a massive task hunting through them

If its been done already i would be eternally grateful if someone could explain how

thanks guys

The guide, ET at least, already has the ability to filter categories (Movies, Sports, News, Kids, Other) and you can setup the categories under your guide provider settings. If you are using schedules direct it should already provide the correct labels on your shows, if you are using an xml it must the category label for example:

 <category lang="en">Sports</category>

What I have also done myself is filtering out channels completely by assigning tag to channels the using the parental controls to exclude those tags. For example, I assign the tag "livetv_news" to all news channels then block access to that tag under the user settings. This keeps the channel from showing up in the guide or in the list of channels.
