Luke 37060
It appears that the file tags are written with an incorrect encoding. They are expected to be encoded in UTF-8 but they are encoded using Cyrillic Windows-1251 codepage. Which appears to be not conforming to the spec. wav is a Windows file type and Windows itself cannot display it correctly: Properties: Windows Music: Windows Media Player: Also, it's not an issue of Windows/Linux. Here's the ffprobe output on Ubuntu: VLC seems to be more tolerant to the encoding: MediaInfo seems to have specific workarounds but only for some tags (which indicates that these are workarounds for out-of-spec cases - otherwise it would properly decode all tags) **Conclusion:** There's not much we can do about it other than changing ffmpeg/ffprobe code. Luke 37060
Perhaps a windows update improved their recognition of this.
