I've got the same problem where i cant skip and always restarts but with a 4k remux (mkv).  Also, it wont let me change the audio track.

MP4 and other re encoded mkv;s skip around fine.

That's a 10bit file. Find an 8bit file and see if you get the same problem.

This is info only, i bought a new NUC and installed windows 7 x64 and im still having the same problems with bluray folders. I now use a nas for storage, i noticed that if your library folders are 'monitored' then this slows down the transfer rate when moving files to that folder, i now have the monitoring switched off.

So i have been having this problem since the 15th of last month. and my mom since the 11th of this month. I manually update her emby to avoid her having issues and I let mine update automatically. But since I am so far behind on watching my shows I thought all was well and updated her earlier without knowing of the issue.

I noticed all my recordings since the 15th have no length in the file. Right click file and then properties then details. So I went to the root of my emby dvr folder and did a *.m* search and did a detail view and included column Length and Total bitrate. Low and behold all videos recorded since the 15th of march and for my mom the 11th of this month there was no length reported. Also on these it takes about 20 seconds to start playing the video both locally throught vlc and through emby. Opened task manager and I can see it reading from the drive like it is scanning the whole file before starting to play.

So I switch recording container from mp4 to mkv and recorded another show. And that did it. Now I read here some are having issues with mkv so maybe some config file is corrupt.

So you can either convert all files from one format to another via command line which was taking a while. or do what I ended up doing for already recorded shows and use "VideoContainerSwitcher" program to batch switch them all. Either way looks like I found my issue. Do not feel like wiping out emby server and starting over at this time so ill let it eat by using the mkv format. For those of you using mkv already try switching your recordings to mp4.

If this is only happening for recorded shows. You can use that convert tool and just converted to the same format I found so MKV to MKV MP4 to MP4. Going to test with different ffmpeg versions for live recordings to see if that fixes it

Or you can wait for the new player. MPV plays everything really well. I now use it as my system player. Just yesterday, I tried watching a movie that I recently got. ET wouldn't even start playing it. I think it was because it had 53 subtitle tracks and about 20 audio. I later remuxed it and removed most of them. But MPV was flawless. After remuxing, ET plays it well, too. So once we get mpv in ET, there should be few to no more problems. It's an excellent player.

Hey guys

 I installed Emby Theatre 2.6.7

I tried 3 movies which are bluray folder rips, two of the movies played and skipped forward just fine, the other one froze and would not skip forward.

With this version of Theatre, in windows 7 and when i pin the program to the task-bar, i get the electron icon and this icon wont open Theatre.

Thanks for the feedback. We are looking into the taskbar pinning issue.

Are any of these transcoding?

Are any of these transcoding?

The one that is giving me problems is transcoding, the other 2 are not.

The one im having problems with, the movie has a few 'm2ts' main movie files, it is not playing them in order, the tiles come up 20 minutes into the movie. I dont know if this is a badly structured bluray rip. I will test out more and report back as it may be a bad movie rip.

Anytime a folder rip has to transcode then we only consider it experimental, at that point, it's not even worth diving in too deeply. So basically we want to make sure it avoids the transcode altogether by having direct access to the folder, otherwise the experience you are seeing is pretty much expected. So what is different about the folder path vs the others?

Mine does the same thing. I need to rip another disc to the same directory and test it.

This is a temp folder i created for testing these movies.

The 3 movies are in a folder on my NUC and server is installed on this pc. So the folder paths are the same apart from the movie folder name. The movie files are in 'COME AND FIND ME/BDMV/STREAM'. They have the same folder paths.

One movie I re-ripped. The first rip was a full disc rip. This one is main movie. Both transcoded. The second movie (I just ripped it), is also main movie, in the same directory, with the same path.

One movie was fully transcoded and the other was direct streamed (only transcoding the audio), and played perfectly. I have tried multiple path configurations to this location. I get the same result, each time.

Luke, not having a direct path isn't the only reason the server will transcode. What if the mpv probing doesn't provide the server with the results it needs (or quick enough) to decide whether transcoding is needed or not? Wouldn't that create an anomaly?

Good work Doofus its good you can recreated the same problem, this can lead to a solution sooner i hope.

If it's on the same machine then try setting up the emby library with a direct path and not a network path.

Exact same problem if i use a direct path, it still trans-codes that movie.

I tried that as part of my testing. No matter what machine it's on or how I configure that path, it transcodes, every time. I'll run it again, tonight, and post the server logs.

Here's the server log for the one that fully transcodes. It's in a library that has the network path. Being played on my HTPC and the file is on the server machine.
