Im havig a few issues with the amazon firestick, i pin the device up emby loads, circle appears then its black screen.

I created a new user thinking maybe all the devices were clashing names or over to many, but it carried on on the new user.. Ivw hunted through the forums here and i can only see this happening a while back on windows app not the amazon sticks.  Ive added guest user, That helps for a few hours then the situation reared its head again,

Maybe a noob thing to ask, but is it possible to pin someone on the second user account on the home users? instead of the original one? im really starting to think its the amount of devices on the user

Any help would be great, thanks

When you say "pin the device" do you mean you are using Emby Connect and guest accounts?

Have you tried a manual connection without Connect?  Any different behavior?

You also said it works sometimes?  Is the device remote from the server?  What kind of internet connection?

hi ebr, pinning a device to my main user, using emby connect,  when a device is pinned to a guest account also it works then if u go back to launch emby say an hour later, it no longer does. the  server is hosted, ive tested a few of my facebook friends as well and its the same, manual connection worked then same , stops working and freezes or goes black screen. does my user have a device limit? could this be causing the issue? rokua and a now tv box work fine, as does my xbox one (even though it keeps promting fro premier that i already own)

When you are finished with whatever you are doing in Emby when it works the first time, what, exactly, do you do to shut it down?

I think the USB port is still powered even when you turn your TV "off" but it is definitely recommended that you use the separate power adapter with the Fire Stick.

However, that shouldn't be the issue.  Do you do anything in Emby before turning off the TV or do you just leave it sitting where ever you were?

As a test, can you try backing all the way out of Emby before powering off and just see if that makes a difference?  Thanks.

seems after doing some testing, when the server is busy on the user inc guest user with a few devices on, it does it... but not on rokus/now tv or xbox one... ive got a lot of friends and family using the server, its a paid for dedicated 2xE5-2680v4 - 512GB - SoftRaid 2x4TB, so power isnt an issue i wouldnt think lol...

hi luke, only when a few of us are on at the same time, at first i thought it was down to ffmpeg crashing the server with high cpu usage when using an m3u file, but then i looked back and seen how stupid that sounded lol.. say if 10 are on its ok and they load up perfect but if my pals are on and then my family and kids it just blacks out . ive tried sharing the server to there own users to see if that worked better, it did for a day or two, then it happended again,

  • 2 weeks later...

If you guys are on the beta path, you can try using 1.3.21 which should be up in the next 12 hours or so.  If you aren't on beta, don't worry about it as I will probably release publicly shortly after the beta is live and you can try then.  Thanks.
