vaise 303
This is something we did not have, and something missed from the old Windows media centre days. Great to see it back but how it is supposed to work exactly. For example, our recordings have a 15 min padding so a 60 minute show goes for 75 mins, on the old roku apps, we had to wait for all that to complete before it would show in the apps. Note - if it matters, we use NextPVR and that plugin). Now the show shows, and we can play it, I think i have figured out you can only fast forward up to the time that has been transcoded - seen by pressing pause, then play each time and you get more and more minutes. But it seems to stop at some stage, and if you play it again, it does not remember where it was, like all completed shows do - and you have to start from the beginning again. There was plenty of show left (60 minutes had passed). I seem to remember on windows media player, when the actual recording stopped, we got dropped out also - but pressing play on it remembered where we were. Are there any instructions on how it should work - or is this just because it is a beta release ? Thanks..
ebr 14860
I think that will be an issue on any of our apps right now because our resume functionality is based on a percentage of the entire length of the item and we don't know the length of the item when you are playing it. We may have to put some sort of exception on that for recordings but it will need to be handled by the server.

Nisten 15
I was trying to watch the olympics last night but ran into some problems I just came across this topic/post today so i'm assuming the ability to watch in-progress recordings is only for the Emby Beta roku app and not the general Emby roku app? Is that correct? 1st problem - On the general Emby roku app, I tried to play Last night's Event a few minutes/seconds before it was set to record but i kept running into "Loading" screens like it couldn't handle the stream (I changed the bitrate settings from "Auto" to "10" mbps" and it alleviated some of the frequency with which the loading screen occurred but it didn't prevent it from happening altogether 2nd problem - Tried pausing a in-progress recording on the Emby beta roku app but it only stayed paused for 10-20 seconds and then went back to playing 3rd problem - My roku randomly rebooted itself once i left the room (it was still playing the in-progress recording); I don't know if this is an after-effect of the 2nd problem ffmpeg log (around live tv playback.txt ffmpeg log (around live tv playback - 2-18-18 703pm).txt ffmpeg log (around live tv playback - 2-18-18 703pm - 2).txt ffmpeg log (around live tv playback - 2-18-18 704pm).txt ffmpeg (in progress recording playback) 2-18-18 705pm.txt ffmpeg (in progress recording playback) 2-18-18 706pm.txt ffmpeg (in progress recording playback pausing before roku's random reboot) 2-18-18 844pm.txt server log 2-8-18 707pm.txt server log 2-8-18 1159pm.txt Edited February 9, 2018 by Nisten

ebr 14860
2nd problem - Tried pausing a in-progress recording on the Emby beta roku app but it only stayed paused for 10-20 seconds and then went back to playing The pause feature is limited to what the Roku supports as far as buffering is concerned. Once the internal Roku buffer fills up, the device will automatically re-start playback. I've never seen such a short time frame but the buffer size does appear to be different on different devices and in different contexts. Perhaps your device had very limited space available? ebr 14860
3rd problem - My roku randomly rebooted itself once i left the room (it was still playing the in-progress recording); I don't know if this is an after-effect of the 2nd problem This is usually an indication of a hard crash inside the Roku player itself. Unfortunately, there is usually very little information we can gather about it.

And if you google around you will see that every Roku app playing live streams has the same behavior. It is a limitation of the platform.
Nisten 15
Alright, thanks for all the info regarding the initial question & the answers to the 2nd & 3rd problem in post #6 If the "playing in progress recording" feature was already part of the general Emby roku app - that still leaves the 1st problem (The Loading issue); I need to know if its a bandwith issue or something else causing the "loading" screen interruptions. Luke 36881
For #1 I would try dropping even lower than 10mbps. Sounds like it is network related to me.
