Emby/kodi in progress status not working

I am new to emby just installed 3 days ago, all appears to be working well other than in progress status not working.

Yep, the main reason I gave emby a try.

If I stop at any point in a film or tv show emby/kodi marks it as watched. Same behavior on all clients.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

System:

emby server 3.1.4.0– Mac OS x 10.8.5

emby setup-

1 Emby User-used by all clients

Media Library setup:

/Volumes/MediaVault1TV Shows 1

smb://macmini.local/mediavault1/TV Shows 1/

Sync user watch data to nfo’s for:

I tried none and the user – same effect

3 Clients:

LibreElec 7.95.1 bata

kodi/emby app 2.3.38

thank you

Thank you for the reply.

I checked in the emby metadata manager>file/episode and did not locate anything for runtime.

So I opened the .nfo in text edit and searched, no entry for <runtime> in any of my .nfo files.

Back in emby metadata manager>file/episode, I selected refresh metadata>replace all metadata.

Message: refresh queued. Waited for awhile and no runtime entry appears.

Is this the way to do this?

In the webinterface, browse to your episodes in your library not metadata manager.

Is there some mediainfo with runtime under the episode synopsis?

no runtime on anything in my library.

under the synopsis is the date added and the is all.

what to do now?

i tried removing a .nfo and it was recreated in emby to no effect

thank you for the help

o.k. by using  Reports i was able to locate a movie and a tv show with a runtime.

i played them in kodi stopped and the progress was saved and was there on my other clients.

we are getting close now.

so now how do i get the runtime in all my movies and tv shows into the nfo

thanks for all the help

Xml will not make any difference. Emby is writing runtime to nfo and xml but is not reading them. The runtime is determined by probing the videos while scanning your library. You should upload a server log after a library scan and maybe also a sample file that doesn't work.

Embys media info is stored in embys database , it is determined by probing the actual file, not from any metadata. You need to refresh items that do not have a runtime shown in the items detail screen (or reports) so that emby will probe the file for these details. This is also required for better direct play/ transcoding in emby apps

Sorry - but this is now a server problem and you will have better luck asking over in that section of the forum.

My apologies, I am not sure if I should continue posting here or in the OS X server thread?

I decided to take drastic measures hoping for a better outcome.

I started from scratch with a clean install – same result.

Added 1 folder –

A few files show runtime, maybe 1 in 20+, the rest do not.

next I refreshed all metadata for the folder.

No Go.

Thought it was worth a try.

Here is a new log

Thank you
