Guest plexman Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) I'm having a little display problem while playing my IPTV to the Chromecast. The IPTV source is a M3U file with udpxy links, so the IPTV source is an HTTP video. Maybe it's a ffmpeg parameters issue (maybe I don't really know). Transcoding log attached and picture of the result while playing on the TV (sound works ok). EDIT: I've tried multiple TV's, and the same happens. Log.txt Edited January 22, 2017 by plexman
Luke 38980 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 I'm not quite sure about that one. It's stream copying the video as-is. You might just have to drop the chromecast bitrate to a low value like 1mbps to force it to fully transcode.
Guest plexman Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 I tryied but I can't change the resolution (screenshot of remote controls attached) in the Android App. Here're some more logs and picture of another TV. P.D.: For me it's not something critical. I don't really use the TV in the chromecast. I just noticed today this anomaly and wanted to report it. Log-1.txt Log-2.txt
Luke 38980 Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 In playback settings prior to playback is where you can change the quality.

If I set the "Chromecast bitrate" to something under the stream original bitrate, it fully transcodes it and it is displayed correctly. Thanks! Although it is strange when it direct plays it. But for me it's ok to set a lower bitrate.
thim 0 Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 (edited) I'm having the same problem as you. I think this is an issue for streams with subtitles(ex. DVB-SUB) in them, because when transcoding the video or enabling the subtitle on the stream it works fine. My theory is that the distorted part of the picture is the "non-existing" subtitle. I'm still searching for a solution for this, but I guess this is a "bug"/feature in the Chromecast. A always transcode option would be nice in Emby. Update with log: https://paste2.org/EOK7kkkM Also getting this error when playing same channel with VLC on iOS/OSX to my Chromecast. Edited May 21, 2019 by thim

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
thim 0 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Logs attached in previous post. The solution to cap the Chromecast stream(to force transcode) is not an option for me since I have multipe channels with different quality, so to get them all to work I have to set it to 2Mbit/s. Which is not a option when having some streams at 20Mbit/s. As I said in my previous post, probably a Chromecast issue - but could be solved with an option in Emby where you could state that ”always transcode” this IP-TV source/shared folder etc.
