sstahl 0
How do I configure Emby Server to support Dolby Digital 5.1(AC3) content to my Roku3 and Roku4 via NextPVR Plugin using HD Home Run Prime Cable Card Tuner. When it transcodes it appears to convert to AAC Stereo.
Luke 36997
Hi @@sstahl, make sure you have configured your audio settings on the roku device. If the issue persists, please start by providing the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
sstahl 0
Attached are 2 playbacks logs. The Roku3 is configured with Dolby Digitial, Dolby Digital Plus, & DTS pass through. Roku3 does play Dolby 5.1 fine with Plex playing the same content if recorded. Luke 36997
Right, we don't have media info on the stream ahead of time so that's why we do a full transcode. For other live TV services we do a live probe but I recall we had to disable it for next pvr, although I don't recall the reason. So the answer is this is currently not available. sstahl 0
Luke thank you. It does work with HD Home Run Prime Direct Interface into Emby. Works well on local LAN with Direct Play. But on remote users direct play is choppy, so end up forcing it transcode by lower quality to 420kbps bitrate. When I use Next PVR, it transcodes at higher quality bitrate but with no 5.1 DD Audio. Luke 36997
Yes then I would use the built in services that don't depend on the plugin.
speechles 1917
You would have to use the blue neon night roku app to do this. In preferences find "unknown audio" change this to AC3. Then "default audio" change to AC3. Last change "force surround" to yes. Now the roku can play in dolby, even if the media info is unknown, or otherwise unavailable. Also there are separate settings for max bandwidth for local, remote, and liveTV bitrates in the app, set each appropriately too.
