I've purchased this several times media browser 2, 3 and now with Emby. I have followed instructions for setting images by name folder and the app runs and then closes and nothing changed. I've tried several directories, C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\ImagesByName   as well as C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\ImagesByName to no avail.  Please advise.

Did you see post #81?

I just purchased this, but can't seem to get it to recognize any empty people folders (which there are many with the person.xml file by no image):

Here's my config.ini file:

[tx_id]
key=removed from post
[iBNDIR]
key=\\192.168.1.250\Metadata\
[RESUME]
name=

It runs, then exits.  Here's the log:

2017-10-30 11:15:48 : 2.0.0.7
2017-10-30 11:15:48 : Generating Persons Name List Please Wait...

2017-10-30 11:15:51 : 1 images searched for
2017-10-30 11:15:51 : 0 images downloaded

My metadata is located on my server share.  It works fine in this location with all my apps and write access requires the use of IP address like I am doing here.  Metabrowser and Emby Server (latest release) have no trouble writing to this location.

Thoughts?

I can't see a reason it wouldn't work but can't say I've tried a UNC paths with it before. To wipe it out as the cause maybe try temporarily mapping a drive to it?

That's hard for me to do because of the way I have these things set up.  Only the UNC using the IP address is mapped with write privileges to my Windows based PC's.  Not a solid security measure, but it does allow me to make sure that other users in the house can't delete things from my servers unintentionally.

I will see if I can setup a test scenarios next week when I am back from travels and check it out.

Thanks.

Can I delete the "poster.jpg" if both the "folder.jpg" and the "poster.jpg" are listed in the same metadata folder without emby reloading the poster.jpg at a later time?

Thank You

Emby it self should not recreate it, if one is present.  This tool is another store.  I thought this was fixed awhile ago thought.

I finally got back to trying to get this tool working and figured out that it does not work with UNC paths and it does not work with Mounted Drives.

Here's my folder structure that I setup:

\\192.168.1.250\Metadata\People

All the folders beneath that are, A, B, C...etc.

Tried to point it to all of the following with no success:

\\192.168.1.250\Metadata

\\192.168.1.250\Metadata\People

Mounted \\192.168.1.250\Metadata as W: and pointed the tool to W: and does not work

W:\ does not work

W:\People does not work

I thought maybe it was because it mounts to the Metadata folder and the tool didn't like being point to the root, so I copied a few hundred to a test folder:

W:\test\People and pointed the tools to W:\test and it does not work.

Copied W:\ test to my local D drive and pointed the tool to D:\test and it worked perfectly!

Conclusion is it does not work with UNC or mount points?  I tried several different scenarios of mounting and could not get it to work.

Any chance you can update the tool to work with UNC?  I would think that a lot of people that use Linux for their Emby server would be using UNC to get these folders.

Thanks.

Sounds like permissions would likely be the only thing stopping you there. I've tried with a mapped drive and it works absolutely fine. A mapped drive to the dir would be seen exactly the same by windows as a different disk and in both instances for me, if the permissions are ok then the tool works fine. Have you tired just opening up the permissions for everyone to test temporarily and rule it out? Bear in mind this runs at admin level so the user you're in won't have the same access to the dir as the application

Interesting...When you say "runs at admin" level...that is probably what flags it as Malware with Malwarebytes...I had to disable Malwarebytes to even be able to run the program.

Back to the problem at hand...that is also interesting.  My user has Admin privileges on this machine and has no issues.  I can write to the UNC path and I can write to the W: mounted folder.  As a test though, I opened a command prompt "as administrator" and I am unable to even open W:, I get "system cannot find the specified drive".

I am not sure how to fix it at this point?  Do you think simply open the Linux share to everyone would work?  I am a bit confused, never had this happen before...once I mount the drive I would assume it would have worked.  I will try to see if I an mount the drive as administrator and see what that does as well.

That is definitely the issue...I mounted it as administrator and it works to both the UNC and the W: drive directly.  Is there a reason why you need to run the app with elevated privilege?  I am thinking that is what MalwareBytes doesn't like about it but not sure.

Thanks.

It's probably down to a little bit of laziness really. By elevating the app to highest level of UAC, it just enables access to various aspects it doesn't necessarily need but often avoids more issues than not. I'm not sure how familiar with my whereabouts but back in the day of mediabrowser 2, i used to have various tools which offered various other facilities surrounding metadata download, some would need access to elevated things and others not, so i just started setting up all apps with a similar basic config so this will be from that. I could potentially remove it.

Thanks...that would be helpful as I would like to mount this permanently so it runs on a periodic basis.  Having to do the mounts as Adminstrator causes me other issues with the way all my systems are connected (I use a combination of NFS and SAMBA shares).

I'm wondering if any other registered users are seeing Avast (any?) AV detect this tool as a virus?

post-10374-0-44423000-1524654115_thumb.jpg

I submitted a sample to Avast, hoping it would be deemed a 'false positive', but this is their response:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Avast and sorry for the delayed response.

Our virus specialists have been working on this problem and they informed me that this detection is correct. The provided file is malicious and it'll remain detected by Avast.

Please check the following articles about Avast virus policy:
- Avast Clean Guidelines: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/228/
- Avast File Whitelisting: https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/229/

Im not really sure how to respond to this other than to say its a little confusing.

The app definitely doesn't contain a virus and i think several users will vouch for the app never doing anything suspicious. I've been around here for a long old time, back in the days of mediabrowser for wmc and always written these tools to do exactly what they say they will and nothing else.

Naturally i cant be posting the source but i can see it from your perspective and can only say if you dont trust me or it then i guess don't run it.

I would love more info on what it os they're detecting. I wonder if i compile with a later version if it might fix the false positive??

I want to assure you I am in no way blaming the tool. As it's not just Avast that has an issue, I figured I'd 'raise the flag'.

Based on the links provided in Avast's response email:

- Avast Clean Guidelines: https://support.avas...ww/article/228/

- Avast File Whitelisting: https://support.avas...ww/article/229/

they seem to detail some of their criteria for the author's benefit. This may be something to take up with them?

As a user, I've submitted the 'false positive' report, along with my assurance that I have long used (& trust) the tool. You've seen the response. I've done this many times & this is the 1st where they were this adamant...
