PC Genie 0
I'm interested in using the Emby plugin called "Bookshelf" from https://github.com/M...aster/Bookshelf; however, I cannot find any instructions on how to install it and use it in Emby. Does anyone have any knowledge of how to get it to work in Emby?https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Plugins/archive/master.zip Emby.Plugins-master.zip
Vidman 589
I believe this plugin is no longer needed as the features are now part of the core server software

PC Genie 0
Yes, I saw that; but I couldn't get it to display PDF files. That's why I was looking elsewhere. Where can I find detailed instructions on how to use Emby's "books" plugin? Something is not working with it. Also can it "read aloud" as well as zoom in and out of the documents? PC Genie 0
There's no documentation for this plugin. I tried putting EPUB documents on my server, but the eBook plugin still doesn't open them for viewing. Does anyone know what type of document format works with this plugin? PC Genie 0
I may have misstated my question. I think the terminology you used is a Content Type called "Books" where you again called it a plugin and it is built-in to Emby. From the Catalog tab there's a supported built-in plugin called "Books" as shown in the image above. So that I understand what you are saying is that it is now defunct, but it is still listed as built-in and that is why there is no documentation? I'm confused on this discussion. It sounds like someone says that the built-in "Books" is still available, but now it is defunct? If it is defunct, maybe it should be removed from the Content Type dropdown list, because it's confusing. All our supported plugins can be installed directly from the "Catalog" tab of the Plugins section of the server dashboard. Vidman 589
It is defunct as a plugin because it is now built-in. Supported plugins are shown in the server dashboard under plugin/catalogue Edited January 11, 2017 by Vidman
PC Genie 0
I have been trying to use the built-in "Books" function, but I cannot get to work. What document format does it use? I'm not talking about the old plug-in, I'm talking about the built-in Content Type from the drop down menu as shown in some ones image posted above. It doesn't work or I need to know what document format that it uses. Does it use pdf, EPUB or what?
Happy2Play 8139
From my tests Emby only catalogs books there is no function to read the books. Edited January 11, 2017 by Happy2Play

To open books to read you must be using a client that supports them. I think android mobile does but I am not certain about that or any others as I haven't any books in my current setup. The android mobile app used to ask you which ebook app you wanted to use to open the ebook Edited January 11, 2017 by Vidman
PC Genie 0
I'm viewing videos and listening to music on Emby through my Roku. There is no instructions that say that I have to play it on a device with applications to run it. As far as I know the application was to be provided through Emby, not the displaying device. What good is this built-in "Content Type", if it doesn't work on any device? I would presume that most people who use Emby will use it on a multimedia device like a Roku through their home network and not just on their computers. Though I admit there is very little info regarding plugins And the official wiki sometimes lags behind server release features. PC Genie 0
Good idea. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer. Kudos to the developers, but it's difficult for users when there are no instructions. If no instructions, please provide warnings "No Instructions Provided."
