nairnmonster 5
Emby Theater fully supports a TV remote, FYI.Oh... that changes things massively. What about live TV support with BGT tuner cards? Also, recording TV ability? Edited February 13, 2017 by nairnmonster
Luke 37050
You can do that with a live tv plugin from our catalog. For out of box Emby support...stay tuned.
nairnmonster 5
You can do that with a live tv plugin from our catalog. For out of box Emby support...stay tuned. Last question, how is media played with the Emby Theater app. Does it use local codecs and play direct or is it streamed?
nairnmonster 5
Last question, how is media played with the Emby Theater app. Does it use local codecs and play direct or is it streamed? I lied, I have others haha. How is the media played when using Emby Theater, direct or streamed? Can the Emby ios app be used to scheduled recordings, series links? Is there a EPG search funcation? Can custom channel icons be used on the EPG? Thanks
Luke 37050
The Windows version embeds LAV filters and will direct play everything. Yes, all of our mobile apps can be used to schedule recordings. EPG search coming soon. Channel icons, yes.
nairnmonster 5
That's amazing, I think I might have an issue. My tuners are in the actual HTPC's. Not the server where Emby server is installed. I guess for the tuners to be used, Emby server needs to be installed on the machine with the tuner? Luke 37050
Well Emby only currently natively supports HDHomerun network tuners. You can use your internal tuner by installing a Live TV plugin, which will add support for that tuner via external software. You can learn more about this in our Live TV wiki: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Live%20TV In the future we hope to improve this such that the external software will not be needed. Thanks.
nairnmonster 5
I had a look and a quick play, but because I don't have an EP subscription I was unable to test the Emby Theater app to see if I can access my Tuner. I did install some of the plugins and follows instructions but unable to test. Does seem like a lot of work to get the end result I already have if you get me. My EPG on WMC is now run with EPG123 + Schedules Direct and is much better than with the unreliable WMC EPG data. Also, having the Emby app within MCE is my desiered system. Emby theater is much faster, and also visually stuning. But having to set up all TV again plus buy an Emby sub and pay additional for the 3rd party application, just don't know if it's worth the work just to have actor images load faster. Will wait and see what can be done within Emby for what you suggest for the future. Thanks for all your help and time.
nairnmonster 5
I bought a subscription today to test ET. It's nice, fast and looks great. But the TV side of it is limited compaired to WMC. So looks like im going to stick with WMC for TV and EMC for media. If I could just get the cast images to load at an acceptable time I would be completely happy with EMC. Luke 37050
The TV features in ET will be changing very soon.
nairnmonster 5
What about the actor\cast images loading faster? Is this something that can be resolved? Is there a way to store the images on the HTPC for local access like MB2, would this work better?
Luke 37050
Does the latest server help at all? The issue is mostly in EMC but as the server gets faster it may help improve this (even if only a little). Also make sure to check this out: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-355-emby-for-ps4-updated-with-new-live-tv-screens/ It's about PS4 but relates to other platforms as well. Thanks.
d00zah 127
Sadly, no. Actor images still load very slowly. Chapter images, however, are nearly instantaneous.

Chubchuckle 2
Thank you! I was having the same the problem with cast as well. I have been a supporter since the early days of MB2 and I've tried mostly all the new front end apps for Emby. Nothing compares to EMC. Thank you guys again.
