It's a Quanta LB6M. It works just fine, but I think the packet size is around 1Gb. If I set the NICs to 1000, the transfer works without any problems at around 1Gb/s. If I push the packet size to 1400 or higher, the transfer stalls part way through, and once complete, is reported at around 300Mb/s. Fortunately, I don't need the switch, it's just for extra ports. So I've got time to play with it. I'm also working on better cooling. It idles at 40C. I've replaced the fans with quieter ones. but I'm going to double up, in hopes that it will move more air through the case

No web interface :(

I'm taking the switch offline for a bit. The fans that I replaced the originals with aren't PWM, and the firmware needs them to be PWM for it to gather all the environmental data (PSU, fan speed, temp etc). So I need to find 40mm PWM fans that are quieter. My chosen fans (Noctua A4-10) don't move quite enough air. I may say "screw it" to the environmental control and double/triple stack the Noctua fans, and let them run. The other alternative is to use these. They are a little quieter, but maybe not be quiet enough. If anyone knows of fans that would be better than the stock fans, let me know. I could also modify the lid, to allow better ventilation. Any other ideas?

Thanks. I ended up ordering some of these. They move a little less air, but should be quieter

It will be, it's certainly quieter now than my 1u SuperMicro.  The power supplies on the Quanta are still a bit loud but it's better.

Am loving this switch for the $179 I paid for it.

I replaced the power supply fans, too. I used Noctua fans. You have to reverse the wires, but it's silent.

I may look at that next.  Just worries me to mess with the power supply.  Don't want it to overheat.

Well, you have a spare :) I've got the spare, pulled out. Less weight on the back, and allows more air inside.

I'm looking to upgrade my switches.  They are simple 5 port Netgear models and my WMC extender often looses connection.  Can anyone recommend a reasonable switch to switch to?  I'd look at 10G, but none of my nodes have that.  Yet....
