Does the Samsung store block VPN?  Was wondering if it woudl be possible to install the app by using a Tomato or WRT router that has a vpn based in the states.

What is the problem why it's US only at this time?

Can we somehow help?

There is no technical problem, first we have to become a Samsung partner in order to release worldwide. We are working on it.

In the meantime, please see post #6 for a workaround. Thanks !

Hi all,

Replying to a combination of "Get Emby Premiere Lifetime before Aug 5th and save 20% off the new price" and "Tizen outside USA" / Samsung SmartTV support in Europe.

When Tizen is supported in Europe too, I'll be happy to consider Emby and the Lifetime license.

Out of curiosity, what is causing the delay with Samsung to allow Emby in the App store in Europe/ worldwide?

And why is the Samsung App store for Smart TV's segmented by regions?

Thank you to all involved in Emby development.

Yes can we have a bit more than "We're working hard on it"

As just mere mortal users we just don't understand how complex this issue is!

All we see is months and months and months go by with apparent ly ZERO progess.

Tell us whats happening and how long we are going to have to wait!

Yes, you guys aren't exactly following agile here and being transparent on these issues. My guess is the admins in here dont actually know, as the issue is somewhere lost in corporate Samsung world

Dear developers, it would indeed be helpful to the community's understanding what the current status is, what progress has been made and what impediments your encounter concerning making the Tizen App available in Europe/worldwide. The community could potentially even be of help. And even if Emby developers are a bit lost (referring to kraduk), that would not be a problem as transparency about the process may lead to valuable help from the community.

I remain very interested in insights concerning my previous questions: what is causing the delay with Samsung to allow Emby in the App store in Europe/ worldwide?

And why is the Samsung App store for Smart TV's segmented by regions?

Thank you (also to the other members for sharing their concerns, the interest indicates the Samsung Tizen App is a valued addition to Emby).

I would also like to encourage the developers to be more transparent on this.

I've been waiting for a EU/WW release for about a year now. Currently i use the "Store location hack", but the i'm missing out on a lot of great local apps, just to be able to use emby.

I believe, that if Emby could get at EU/WW release on Samsung Tizen TV's, it would have an impact on the Plex marked share, as Plex on Samsung Tizen TV isn't handling 4k material that well, and Emby has the upper hand here.

So please enlighten us on what's holding things up so we can sit back and keep our fingers crossed relaxed and having faith in the developers.

We have.  International software distribution via a 3rd-party-controlled platform is a very complex issue - not technically, but legally and politically.  We are doing what we can but can not provide any further information at this time.  Thanks.

Just adding my desire to see this appear in the UK. I have had to install Plex (alongside Emby) on my server exclusively for the TV. The Plex experience on the Samsung is pretty good, and although the two server apps play perfectly well together, ideally I'd love to only use Emby since this is what we use on all our other devices.

@@ebr I am sorry this is not true. You are both as tight lipped on this subject as you can be!!

WHAT is so complex "legally and politically" ?

The only thinng I can take from this is it sounds as though they just don't want you to be worldwide becasue you are not paying enough bribes to the right peoplw!?!

JUST explain a bit more - dont just dismiss us as morons with a single "palm off" statement.

I've been lurking and watching this thread on and off for about a year.

I moved from Kodi to Plex partially because Plex was available on my J Series Samsung.

Given Plex's complete lack of transparency, user communication, involvement in forums, and recent data collection changes, I'm planning on transitioning to MrMC or Emby.

I also find it very strange given the transparency of the Dev Team on nearly all other topics, why this one has such a strange vibe about it.

I think that app store approvals are likely just a tricky subject, especially apps that could be construed as enabling piracy. Depending who is reviewing the app and the delay between the submission, the review, and corrective actions I would imagine that the process can be drawn out. Without a full team to process the submissions to all the different app stores and their regions the Emby team needed to focus their energy on the US market first. Just my 2 cents.

I hope to see Emby apps on all the smart TV platforms in my region as it makes installation so much easier for all.
