Hi,

I'm trying to get Live TV up and running using it with a HD Homerun Connect and Schedules Direct.

But I have no luck!

So, it looks like the HD Homerun is setup in the right way as I can watch live tv. I just don't get the EPG information!

I succesfully was able to

- use the credentials of trial account of schedules direct,

- set up post code, area and

- do some mapping of the first 4 channels (out of 27) that werent associated in the right way.

While doing the last step I could already that it was downloading the EPG data, as it took quite a while with a slow progressing bar.

In the end I couldnt find any EPG data in the web dashboard!

When looking into the logs it seems to create a connection to schedule direct but failed for what ever reason and returns with an error (bad request)

On a couple of observations - for which I dont know if they can help and are related to this issue:

- I mapped some of the first 4 channels manually - for which the log shows they are not mapped.

- I reinstalled Emby and reinstalled it as I was also trying to use XMLTV with the suggestion of using IceTV as EPG but no luck (got an alert that schedules direct - even after removing tuner and schedules direct) - so I started new. SInce then I have another error (or didnt noticed earlier in the log):

Sorry for that. Despite all this I'm quite happy with Emby (also I'm using Plex in parallel, but want to use and prefer Emby as standalone media server). I just have to get the Live TV up and running.

Anything else you need?

Cheers,

Taladin

I wasnt aware schedules direct provides guide data to Australia i am interested do they provide thumbnails that would make emby theater awesome. Maybe it will give icetv little nudge to also start offering thumbnails competition is always good.

Hdhomerun dvr also has thumbnails but they are not saying who is the guide data provider but as i said it on the website without grid guide that software is of no use i gave it a go but dont like it. It is amazing how far emby has come compared to them.

Perhaps a bit Off-Topic, but I am a bit worried about both providers for EPG at the moment and if they will exist and provide Data for us Down Under in the future!

  • Schedules Direct posted in their forums that they give users from Australia a 2 month free trial to test how much interest they would generate for Australian users, and to avoid if not sufficient interest they will not go forward with it and don't want to refund customers. (I"m not able to create an account in their forums - as their security question sounds a bit strange and I cant answer it correctly (also I"m not native English) - so I cant try and ask questions how its going.
  • IceTV was already almost gone last year and I hate their insane pricing for the EPG of monthly AUD$8 (no yearly subscription with any discounts) and doubt its a sustainable pricing to attract enough customers and be profitable. But nonetheless. IceTV was probably the most stable provider I Can think of over the last 5 years I live in Australia (I used them previously for EyeTV from Elgato)

So we just need to be flexible in such a small country (counting people living here not the size!) and go with whatever is available for us regardless of the price. Thumbnails would just be a bonus.

(Reminds me to try IceTV via XMLTV import for Emby Live TV.)

@@Luke. Don't know if it helps.

WIth XMLTV and IceTV as a provider I'm able to get the EPG up and running.

But still I haven't been able to resolve schedules direct - which would be the preferred provider at the moment (as it would be roughly 1/3 of the price per year to get EPG)

The Schedules Direct AU/NZ  trial has been canceled.. There wasn't enough interest, it was a lot of work on our side,  and the data cost too much anyway.   Eventually, our data source will merge the AU/NZ data with their existing international feed and we should have that available.  Based on what we saw of the data quality and consistency, they have a lot of work to do.

BTW, in the forum the letter next to itself is Z.. so DZ is the answer. :)

  • Solution

Ok so i guess the issue is that Schedules Direct still returns Australia in the list of available countries and still allows them to assign the lineup to the user account. That leads to confusion later when it doesn't work.

Thanks so much for the clarification . I feared something like that. Ok, I have to use then either IceTv or freely.tv. Both seem to work.

Curious they had a trial but didnt advertise anywhere.

Ice tv is expansive for what it does but i want to support a local company and hope one day they will have thumbnails but then this will only happen if more people start asking for it.

I did ask them to support emby but again it comes to demand. Sooner or later wmc will be gone so they should align with software that has a lot of potential to be better than wmc. I think emby has that potential its not even close now but in a year it could be.

  • 1 year later...
fewpeople

Is it possible to provide a setting for Australia to use over the air guide , i just signed up to Schedules direct it let me select Australia and all the rest.

even selected emby in the sign up process.

Then went into emby to add the login and found that Australia is not listed.

Can you let all of us in Australia use over the air ? as it works very good for me.

I'm using 2 HDhomeruns 1 old 1 new.
