greenwoc 1
Hi guys, I'm running Emby Theatre on a Windows 10 PC. A lot of what we are using Emby for is the Live TV functionality. We live in an area with a slightly marginal TV signal, 90%+ of the time recordings are perfect but occasionally we get the slightest signal breakup. Even then it usually only happens once per recording. And only on HD channels. Previously the signal was much worse and an improved antenna has got us to where we are now. In previous versions of Emby Theatre it coped pretty well with signal issues when replaying Recorded TV however if the signal totally dropped it would eventually stop the recording (though we'd usually stop it before it gave up as the signal issues rendered the recording unwatchable) In the 2.5.30 version of Emby Theatre even the slightest signal issue causes the recording to stop. I've tried playing the same recording through VLC and Windows 10's built in player and at the point that Emby has stopped the recording I can see a very minor glitch but nothing more and both programs continued playing. I know that Emby Theatre used to cope well with this because of my previous signal issues. I've tried MadVR and EVR+ and they both behaved the same. Watching the same recording on the Android app is also fine. Is this a known issue in 2.5.30 and if so us there a workaround or am I able to downgrade while I wait for the next version. Unfortunately of the 2 recordings we tried to watch tonight on both we had to switch over to VLC part way through.
Luke 36999
Hi, we have not looked at in-progress recordings with Theater yet so I'm afraid I don't really have much of an answer, but it is on our near term roadmap to get completed in the app. Thanks. greenwoc 1
Hi Luke, Thanks for the quick response but this is nothing to do with in-progress recordings. This relates to playing previous recordings. It appears that in the 2.5.30 release of Theatre, any glitch in the signal during recording renders Emby Theatre unable to play the resulting file, even when Emby for Android, VLC, Windows Media Player etc all play that file back with no issues whatsoever. Luke 36999
Can you provide a sample file for testing? Thanks.
greenwoc 1
Hi Luke, I've PMed you a link to a file that caused the issue for me. Let me know if you need anything more/to test anything. The Windows 10 machine I'm running Theatre on is a pretty clean install and it was working fine before the recent update (not sure exactly when this started but it's something we'd notice pretty quickly. 2.5.25 was definitely fine. Marc_G 92
Subscribed. I noticed this last night in a wonky recording I made (poor antenna / wrong tuner choice issue caused recording with glitches). Theater would stop playing. I deleted the file, so can't provide it, but wanted to chime in as someone else who noticed playback stop at glitches where other playback software soldiered through.
