flashburn 1
I'm coming from Plex and so far I really like Emby. One feature I can't seem to find is if there is a hotkey to delete media? Plex had this as the del key which I could map to my remote to easily delete a show after I watch it. If it's not available, is there any possibility of getting it added? I don't mind making the changes myself if necessary, but I'm not even sure if adding hotkeys is going against the fundamentals of Emby since I read it's focused on usability with as few buttons/keys as possible. I'm running with the Win10 app, if that matters. Edited December 1, 2016 by flashburn
Luke 37028
Actually we love hotkeys. Our only requirement is that they be treated like a shortcut and not the primary way of doing something. So yes, perhaps the del key is a good idea. We don't currently have this, but I don't think our Delete function requires too many clicks at the moment. It's available in most 3-dot context menus and then you just have to confirm.

Yeah, I actually went and used it for a little bit, and it's not that bad, any bulk deleting I really should just be doing directly on my server anyway. I do have one complaint, and the hotkey would workaround this... Which is that if you only have a single episode left and you delete it this kicks you all the way back to the main screen. It would happen in Plex, but since Plex had both a shortcut and a Context menu you can bring up in the general "TV section" you wouldn't have to worry about this happening. Another shortcut (if it doesn't already exist) is to be able to bring up the Context menu (three dots) from any of the main Media browsing pages. Is there a list of the currently supported hotkeys somewhere? I tried googling for this, but ultimately all I could find were old pages for the old version that just said it supports all the same shortcuts that Windows Media Player supports. denz 426
I was hoping that next to the play button there is a trash can or delete button as that is what will mostly be used the tick and the heart I highly doubt that I will ever need to tick that. Going to the three dot menu is a pain and I rather not use it something that everyone uses should be right there on the screen hopefully that can be changed. WMC also has an additional button if you record something and it is a series there is a record series button similar to my satelite box it has a green button to record series if the recording is part of series. flashburn 1
Actually I was wrong about the current solution. It doesn't make sense that when you do delete something, it ALWAYS kicks you out all the way to the main menu. That's really not a good solution. It should just kick you out to the last area you were in. It's pretty painful every time you finish watching a show and delete it, then you have to go all the way through the entire menu system again to watch something else. Even more painful if you are going through a single series.

I like the idea of the trashcan button next to the three dots. Is there someone who does the art that could help create an icon for that? I haven't looked at the source at all yet, but I'm sure I can take care of the coding side for it. I'd still like to delete without going all the way into a series as well as being able to pull up the context menu, and then not kicking a user out all the way to the main menu after deleting something. Luke 37028
Our hotkey documentation needs to improve, yes. I think a better description of what we have now is shortcuts. Emby Theater implements the same keyboard shortcuts as Windows Media Center. Can you give examples of other hotkeys that you would like to see? thanks ! flashburn 1
Off the top of my head I'd say a Subtitle button to Cycle through subtitles, Audio button to cycle through audio tracks, and the aforementioned Context button.
Luke 37028
Excellent, thanks for the feedback.
flashburn 1
Another thing, it'd be nice if the Up/Down arrows when watching content would skip forward/backwards 5 minutes like the Skip buttons in the GUI do.

Luke 37028
Great suggestions. We'll try to look at adding more hotkeys soon.

KRULL 8
Has anymore consideration for the Delete hotkey being done? Currently with Emby for Kodi, it requires 6 button pushes to ask for a deletion, where as one would be nice, and wife friendly. The current way couldn't be less wife friendly. Kodi has the delete hotkey of the keyboard command "Delete" but this will only remove it from the Kodi library, not the actual Emby server. Kodi "Delete" shortcut (one button press) result: Emby for Kodi via Context Menu (6 Buttons presses) result: Edited June 21, 2017 by KRULL
Luke 37028
I suppose the delete key is a possibility for a shortcut.
