x doesn't always work

First startup everything was fine. Movie started playing. Awesome job. Then in the middle of a movie I tried to hit X to pause it. Only works if the play menu wasn't showing. If I just hit X it would pause but if the menu was showing with play rewind and such, hitting X while on play or pause wouldn't work. If the menu went away, it would play or pause with X.

After the movie ended and I was viewing all my movies hitting X wouldn't select the movie. The curser would disappear. If I move the cursor the search icon up top would light up.

This was all done in full screen.

Closed window and loaded my bookmark. Went to select all movies and it loaded a movie individual movie instead. Backed out and went to select shows up top and it loaded that same movie again when I hit X.

Rebooted the PS4 . Same problem seems like hitting x is moving the cursor up or down and selecting the highlighted movie or show. I know i was using X when it first started and it worked

Ok I can't just use arrow keys to move and x to select what is highlighted. I have to actually move the cursor around with the pad and hit X to select. Seems like they both should work. Using arrows can be easier and faster then having to manually move the cursor

That's the way the ps4 browser works. Whatever the stick cursor is on top of is considered the focused element and it receives the input commands. At some point I'll see if i can hack it but right now that's just the way it works. It's not quite as good as say the Xbox One browser that works exactly as you would expect.

Thanks for the info. Makes no sense Sony!!!! I have something highlighted so I hit X. Sigh. They have a normal media remote don't they? I guess maybe it is for media only and not web browsing.

Question about this. This was the first time i've used the ps4 web browser. on any standard web page i tried going to last night  the direction keys moves the cursor like it would with using the stick and with your app, it highlights but not move the cursor like you said. Could it be simpler then having to hack it to have the direction keys act like the cursor like a normal web site?

Hi, was this looked into? The whole d-pad navigating on the PS4 seems a bit pointless if it doesn't work in turn with pressing X. I've just started using the PS4 "app" (although, it's a web app for a compatible browser, not seeming at all specific to the PS4 whatsoever) and it doesn't seem like "Fast, easy browsing" at all.

I really hope that navigation can be done properly, as I use a Logitech Harmony remote so moving the mouse cursor is a no-go for me.

I'm currently in testing, hoping to migrate from Plex. Every aspect of Emby I love so far, but I'm really trying to prevent this from being a dealbreaker.

Hi, it works, but unfortunately you have to have the mouse cursor over what you are clicking on.

I suppose there are conflicts of idea on "works" then. The best option would be to remove d-pad functionality for the "app" as it's rather misleading.

Well, that's the Logitech Harmony out of the picture for the PS4 then. It's a shame as the Shield TV and Android apps are pretty good and this is the one missing link to become a full Emby convert.

I would suggest revising the PS4 app page (https://emby.media/emby-ps4.html) as it is rather misleading.
