Hi @@chenks

The latest beta version of the Emby app offers improved playback, refresh rate switching, and all the HD Audio pass-through you need. Check out the beta thread for more details:

We think you'll enjoy the next update to the stable channel. Thanks !

this new beta version doesn't even manage to play the file in question at all!

i select the episode

i get the spinny logo for a second, it then freezes and eventually the app crashes.

The Emby user wasn't "Simon"?

Can you confirm the exact version of the app (from the app settings page)?

ok now on 1.3.1g

file plays from start, but i chose to play by selecting a chapter than it just gives a constant spinny logo

Can you reproduce that and send a log from the app please?  Thanks.

i still have the same audio sync issue as i did with the non-beta.

file currently playing with audio out of sync.

audio setting is set to downmix to stereo. when set to direct it was silent.

the chapter issue.

i select, say chapter 4, it brings up a frozen image of what chapter 4 starts with, but fails to start playing.

i have done that right just now.

i have just used the send logs options

That pretty much convinces me that the issue is being created by the transcode then.

it's just the audio that is transcoding isn't it?
as the video format should be capable of direct play.

so what is the solution?

plex is able to play it fine.

I'm not sure at this point.

On the chapter jump issue - how many items did you try this on?  I can reproduce but only on some items.  Some work fine.

Also on the ones where chapter skip won't work, small seeks (like skipping ahead) work fine.  The thing is, the app is doing the exact same thing for both of those operations so I cannot explain why one works and the other doesn't.

When it doesn't work, it looks like ffmpeg just gets totally hung up on the server and never actually starts feeding video to the player.

tried it on two different files.

both did the same.

yes, scrubbing ahead does work 99% of the time, but i did manage to make it hang just like a chapter skip once.

chapter skip worked fine (i think) on the non-beta version.

If you could, please reproduce the problem trying to jump in on chapters and then post both the server log and the ffmpeg log that is created.

Instructions are here.  Thanks!

server log - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1499080/Log2.txt

app log uploaded, i had to quit the app then force stop before i could get back into the app to send the logs

So, what exactly happened?  Please start from when you clicked on the chapter in the detail screen and detail everything you and the app did after that.  I cannot reproduce any kind of crash.  Thanks.

i open the app

i select a movie.

on the standard pre-play screen i scroll down and select a chapter to start form (in this instance it was chapter 3 or 4 i think).

the screen goes black with the standard scroller.

then a static image of the start of that chapter appears, still the scroller.

it stays like that until i back out of the app or force quite it (depending if it has locked up or not, which is more often than not).

playing the movie from the start works fine (ignoring any of the audio sync issues i currently still have).

this occurs with two different files i have tested (1 a movie and 1 a tv show)

Thanks.  When you say "locked up" what do you mean?  Do you get a grey screen?

In the log you sent there is an error from the player attempting to load the content but nothing that looks like a crash.

I think the next beta very well may allow these items to direct stream but I'd kinda like to know what this problem is and if we can fix it.
