Can anyone please help with my issue?

For some reason Emby keeps stopping every few minutes, which is strange because everything as been running fine for months.

I have noticed recently though that the after playing for a couple of minites the video starts to stutter and then the sound goes before the server shuts off.

The server also shuts itself down without a client connected.

Current version is 3.0.8400.0-1 from the package source https://synology.emby.media/?package_repository=360efc6e-de72-4073-b603-2bfbd7001586

Log from server.

If there is another log i should be posting please let me know.

OK I have uninstalled them except for:

Movie Theme Songs

Movie Theme Videos

TV Theme Songs

TV Theme Videos

Trailers.

It says they are uninstalled but when I restart the server they appear in my library.

Hello @@Inx192

Can you run the diagnostics and send logs utilities please, details on the Wiki (see below).

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Synology-:-How-to-Run-Diagnostics

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Synology-:-How-to-Send-us-Support-Logs

When the send logs completes, you'll get a file reference, if you can post that here.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. If you didn't uninstall them, then of course they should still be listed in plugins right?

I clicked uninstall on all plugins and my list was then empty but when the server restarted the above plugins appeared again in my library,

I tried it a few times and the same thing happened.

Perhaps you hadn't actually restarted yet?

 Luke,

I restarted a few times after trying and I  just tried again and just restarted emby and also tried again restarting the server machine and still the same result.

Hi @@Inx192

Thanks for the logs, I have them. For future reference, the send logs utility sends everything we need, so no need to post anything else separately.

I've seen (and reported) the issue with plugins not uninstalling before, you're not doing anything wrong.

Hello @Inx192

Ok, a couple of things caught my eye, first being the number of active file descriptors associated with 'sync14.db'. (221 to be exact in this snapshot)

We can also see a segmentation fault (SIGSEGV) occurring, which will be the reason that Emby Server stops running unexpectedly.

This first happened between 2016-10-15 11:40:17 UTC and 2016-10-18 21:22:39 UTC, and has happened 24 times in total with 'MediaBrowser.Server.Implementations.Sync' featuring prominently in all instances.

This is unlikely to be coincidence.

Can you SSH to your box and post the output of the following:-

ls -l /volume2/@appstore/EmbyServer/var/data/sync14.db

Hello @@Inx192

Can you try the following please:-

Stop Emby Server in Package Center
SSH into your NAS, and run: sudo mv /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/data/sync14.db /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/data/sync14.db_old
Start Emby Server in Package Center
From SSH, run : ls -l /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/data/sync14.db

If it crashes again, can you run the diagnostic (with Emby Server running) and send logs utilities again.

Thanks

Edit:
Oops just re-read your post and only ran the log without doing the suggested sudo commands. Will run that when i get home from work.

Hello @@Inx192

Sorry, that was my mistake, this...

ls -l mv /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/data/sync14.db

...should have been...

ls -l /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/data/sync14.db

No problem though, the error is harmless.

So that's reset the sync database, which is not something we have issues with regularly, but there have been a couple of cases so I wanted to eliminate that as part of the troubleshooting.

Let us know how you get on, good or bad and if Emby Server does crash again run the diagnostic (with Emby Server running) and send logs utilities again.

James,

Thank you very much, all seems to be running smoothly since last night even after just the first line of code you told me put into ssh. I just ran the other corrected code.

Would it be worth posting another log to see if all is good?

Hello @@Inx192

Thanks for the update, if you have the time then if you run the send logs utility again, I'll take a look.

If all is still working well, I would start adding back the plugins you removed (if you need them), with the exception of 'Kodi Sync Queue' for the moment.

Let that run for a few days and confirm you don't have any repeat issues with Emby Server crashing.

If it's still ok then, then try re-introducing 'Kodi Sync Queue' and see how you get on.

Keep us posted....

Hi James,

Working almost perfectly now!

Server running stable

Clients connecting & streaming perfectly

Problems noticed on surface of Emby:

1. Last 4 plugins left on server still reappear after uninstall as earlier post

2. Most the time but not all the time the 3 lines button on browser page that brings up menu of movies, tv servies, etc. is completely blank and then other times it is there. I have tried from different browsers (Chrome and edge) and different pc's and still same result.

--No menu after clicking button at top left:

Paint.jpg

--I have found if i click the person symbol at the top right, click on server dashboard then go back to home, the menu then shows:

Logs from server sendlogs_Server1_synology_bromolow_3615xs_20161104T194247UTC.tgz

Hi @@Inx192

Thanks for the update, glad to see your system is still working well.

I'll look into the plugin uninstall behaviour, as I've seen it before along with identical conversations to the one you had above; it's easy to reproduce.

With regards to the second issue, the best course of action would be to start another topic with the information you've posted above.
