macnab 0
Using Rmby as DLNA server because Windows 10 messes up my filenames. I have an LG HTS, which can handle almost anything. There is no content on my drives which it cannot handle. I selected vlc as Profile because it too can handle virtually anything. Some of my MKV files contain vobsub subtitles. Set to Default, but not Forced. The subtitles are displayed, but I don't want them. What can I change in the profile so that I can switch them off with the LG's remote? The player shows that they cannot be switched off.
Luke 36999
To my knowledge the LG tv does not support VobSub, therefore Emby Server has to burn them in and this requires transcoding. Once we burn them in, they're part of the video and you will not be able to control it with the LG remote. What you can do is use the Emby web interface to configure default subtitle preferences for your Emby user. Click your user icon in the top right -> playback settings. Set the subtitle behavior to never show subtitles.
macnab 0
Yes, I see that the VLC profile doesn't have vobsub listed. That explains what is happening. Actually, my LG-HTS (bluray player) does support vobsub because if I use Windows as the DLNA server, I can switch the subtitles on and off. Would it not be a more elegant solution to add vobsub to the device profile? Just don't know what the method and Didl mode settings should be. I am guessing Embed within container and res element. EDIT: It won't allow me to change the subtitle handling settings. I only have access to the checkboxes. Edited October 25, 2016 by macnab
