Network Credentials Format for Windows Domain

Hi,

I was having troubles doing a direct play from Emby using Kodi.  The direct play is coming from 10.0.0.253, so I used 10.0.0.253 as the server name in the network credentials wizard.  Username I tried just the username and domain\username with the password (contains specials).  No luck.  I think one thing I forgot to do was restart Kodi.  Is there a defined username format for Windows domains?  Usually it is the username, domain\username or username@domain.xyz.

TYIA.

The windows credentials are added as smb://{user}:{pass}@{hostname}/

If you are uncertain, you can try to navigate to your content via addons > install from zip. Kodi should prompt you for your windows account credentials.

You will need to restart Kodi before those changes take effect though...

So what exactly is the syntax for a domain user account in Emby/Kodi?  I ended up creating a local user that worked just fine, so clearly I have a syntax problem with the username (or password is too complex).

smb://{user}:{pass}@{hostname}/

Where does the domain go when asked for the username?

You don't need the domain.  Just enter this way:

hostname:  IP address

user: username

password:  password

Just make sure you don't have any spaces in your user name - I ran into issues with that many iterations ago.

Otherwise, try navigating like I mentioned. It's usually easier if you don't know your network info.

Go to settings > addons > install from zip > just navigate to your content. Does Kodi prompt you?
