I have a question. The shared stream, ie. more than one device watching the same channel. Is there a limit to how many?

This is starting to shape up nicely.  I'm able to play the same channel on a few different clients at the same time - in this case two ET (direct play) and one webclient in Chrome (transcode) - and it was using one tuner.   I do see a glitch with closing the tuner stream after there have been multiple simultaneous clients consuming it.

If I start LiveTV playback of a channel and only have one client, when that one client stops playback, the tuner gets closed.

If I start playback, then join with a couple other clients, when all three clients stop playback, the tuner stays active, and I can see the .ts file in the transcoding temp folder continue to grow.  In fact, if I then play the same channel from any of the clients, they just join back on the same stream.  It goes way beyond the 5-minute tuner close timeout as well.

See attached log - playback had been stopped for I believe more than 5 minutes before I grabbed the log.

Here's another one for you.... In this log I was going to try to give a more concise log with both of the scenarios above.  I started playback with one client, then stopped playback.  The tuner was closed and the temp file deleted.  All good.

Then I started playback of the same channel on one client, but when I tried to start playback on the second client, the first froze, and the second played for a fraction of a second and hung on what appeared to be the same frame.  I could see that the temp file stopped growing, but the tuner was still active.

I stopped both clients, and the tuner was still active, no temp file growth.

When trying to start playback of the same channel again, it couldn't - just the spinner of death - I presume because the server things the stream is still active so it doesn't start a new stream and it's just hung.

Hi Luke,

179 has a lot of nice improvements. Thanks!

I have been initially just testing a single stream at a time, so can't comment on multiple streams yet.

The one thing is pretty consistently the stream will just stop after 30-40 minutes. tested with a couple of different HD channels.

Is there a temp/buffer stream size limit that is being hit? If not will get you logs sometime today.

Thanks again

Hi

.181 introduced a regression. Can't find a direct play profile. See attached log.

I have rolled back to .179

Please let me know if you need more info.

You are going to have to look at the client profile and then the log on both sides to find your answer. I am not seeing any problems playing live tv without transcoding.

Will do, same profile works with .179. I will try to figure out what needs to change for .181.

Thanks!

I added probing of the live stream with ffprobe so the media info might be slightly different. The app may need to adjust.

Cool, I will look at that specifically.

Emby is doing the stream probing now? Great! But like i've said in the developers private conversation before you banned me  ;)  we need a way to set ffprobe analyzeduration,

otherwise it will always take 6 seconds. Way too long!!!
