Server log with Direct Play Live TV stream request from Emby Theater and Android App.  Both are not streaming.

Just for your information: direct playback still works flawlessly with an external live tv plugin.

Any update? Is this not an issue for all that are trying to Direct Play a Live TV stream within the Emby Live TV ecosystem?

Just got home from traveling and got my first chance to try this out.  Seems I'm seeing the same issues.  I tried to play live tv from two different ET clients.  I can see the tuner become active (light on the box), I can see the .ts file growing in the transcoding temp dir.  In the log I see 404 on the delivery of the actual stream... 

 

Also - each of the streams that were started kept the tuner active even when I attempted to play a different channel.  So by the time I was done with what you see in the server log, there were 4 tuners busy and 4 .ts files still growing in the transcoding temp dir.

 

ET and server logs attached.

It appears that for some of us, Direct Play of Live TV in clients like ET are not working with the Beta Release. Clients that required a transcoded stream still work. If you want Live TV thru Direct Play clients then you must roll back to the Stable Release of the server.

Current dev might be working a little better. haven't pushed it to beta yet though.

Testing Update:

 

Emby Server: Version 3.1.177.0 beta

Android App: Version 2.7.98

Emby Theater: Version 2.5.22

HDHomeRun Connect: Version 20160928beta1 Firmware

 

Direct Play of Live TV is working for both Emby Theater and Android. Also tested time-shifting transcoded Live TV stream in Chrome and it is working.

Just tested. Direct play is working again in ET. Great work! But I can't play live tv at all on my HTC 10 with the android app. Neither in or out of network. It starts like it's going to play, the dashboard reports that it's transcoding (out of network) and direct playing (in network), the app starts to play and just stops. If I'm in network, a picture appears and then freezes. If I'm out of network (verizon wireless), just a black screen.

Update:

Hold on, the app won't play anything. I'll reinstall and test

Update 2:

Reinstalling and rebooting worked, to let me watch on my phone again. I was able to watch the same show in ET and on my phone, on the same tuner. But exiting out (back arrow on phone) to the guide, ET stopped playing and froze. I closed it, and now ET won't launch at all. And the app on the phone won't play anything either

I  can confirm that direct play is working again on my S7 Edge. I can also confirm that tuner sharing is working as designed as I am able to Direct play to my S7 Edge and transcode to Chrome on my desktop the same channel without using another tuner. Well done.

 

One question I do have and maybe this needs to go in another thread but is time shifting enable for direct play on Android?

Logging out and back in on Win 10, lets me use ET again. But the android app won't play anything. I'll post in the android area
